Job Summary:

The Engineering Intern supports electrical engineers and technical teams in the executions of power systems projects, assisting with engineering, testing, and commissioning activities. This role provides hands-on exposure to engineering workflows, technical documentation, and analytical tasks within a structured, professional environment. The internship is designed to foster learning, collaboration, and practical skill development under the guidance of experienced engineers.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • None.
Duties/Responsibilities:

Engineering & Technical Support

  • Assist engineers with technical documentation, calculations, and engineering deliverables.
  • Support the preparation, review, and organization of test reports, commissioning data, and technical analysis.
  • Participate in design reviews and technical discussions to gain exposure to engineering decision-making processes.

Documentation & Quality Support

  • Assist with drawing reviews, markups, revisions, and document control activities.
  • Support project documentation efforts, including closeout packages, quality records, and compliance documentation.
  • Ensure documentation aligns with company engineering standards and quality procedures.

Collaboration & Professional Development

  • Attend internal coordination meetings and collaborate with cross-functional team members.
  • Perform assigned tasks under the guidance of experienced engineers with an emphasis on learning and skill development.
  • Adhere to company safety expectations and professional conduct standards at all times.

Additional responsibilities and tasks as required to support the organization's goals and adapt to evolving business needs.

Attributes/Abilities:
  • Must have a satisfactory background/MVR check.
  • Must pass a pre-employment, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, and/or random drug test.
  • Must have reliable transportation and possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Basic understanding of electrical theory.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Interpersonal and social skills; strong customer service skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and attention to detail.

Experience & Education:

  • Coursework or exposure related to power systems or electrical equipment
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, electrical drawings, or technical documentation.
  • Basic understanding of electrical principles.
  • Familiarity with power systems, substations, or electrical testing concepts.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to travel up to 70% of the time.
  • Must wear appropriate and mandated PPE including arc-flash suit, safety glasses, hard hat, respirator, hearing protection, steel-toed boots, etc.
  • Ability to walk, stand, climb, pull, push, sit, and work in a cramped or confined space.
  • Potential low exposure to various conditions, including dirt, heat, fumes, smoke, water, noise, vibration, grease, oil, and dust.
