About This Position
POSITION SUMMARY
The Contract Mental Health Therapist provides individual and group services to address co-occurring mental health disorders and the intersection of those disorders with substance use disorders to enhance the recovery efforts of patients seeking treatment at Cumberland Heights. Operating within the Cumberland Heights Model of Care, this contractor works closely with clinical treatment teams to provide a seamless service experience for the patient.
This is a non-salaried, independent contractor position. The therapist is responsible for managing their own schedule and fulfilling agreed-upon service expectations.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintains a caseload consistent with agreed-upon service arrangements of patients and/or families as assigned and coordinates their care.
- Collaborates with Cumberland Heights patients and clinical providers as appropriate to assess and diagnose co-occurring disorders.
- Provides input into individualized plans of care with treatment teams.
- Facilitates individual and group therapy within scope of practice.
- Maintains timely and accurate documentation of clinical activities in the electronic medical record.
- Participates in treatment team meetings and consultations.
- Provides crisis intervention and de-escalation services, as appropriate within scope of practice.
- May facilitates trainings as mutually agreed.
- Represents the organization at professional meetings as needed.
- Maintains a safe and therapeutic environment.
- Maintains confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and applicable regulations of patient and company information.
- May provide additional agreed-upon services within scope of practice.
- Master’s Degree in counseling, social work, or related field required.
- Active unrestricted licensure (LCSW, LPC-MHSP or equivalent) required.
- Experience with trauma and co-occurring disorders required.
- Strong clinical judgement, documentation, communication, and computer skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively and respond to crisis situations.
CONTRACT-SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to be credentialed with commercial insurance panels.
- Must maintain credentialing as required.
- Must provide and maintain own malpractice insurance.
- Must maintain licensure in good standing.
- Responsible for all applicable taxes, insurance, and business expenses.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Services are provided in a clinical setting with standard safety precautions.
- Work may involve interaction with individuals experiencing acute behavioral health needs.
- May include availability for weekends based on patient care needs and mutually agreed-upon scheduling.
