About This Position

Position Title: Cashier

Reports To: Restaurant Manager

Department: Food and Beverage

Shift: Varies

Role: The Cashier greets guests in a positive, friendly manner with a warm welcome. Takes and inputs orders into the POS system, accurately receives and tenders payments, and makes proper change. Must possess knowledge of all transaction types including complimentary sales, coupons, vouchers, and promotional offers issued by the casino or property. Ensures efficient order processing and assists with packaging food and beverage items as needed. Performs all opening and closing duties as outlined in the Cashier Policy and Procedure Manual. Maintains stock levels in all assigned stations and ensures all guest‑facing areas remain clean, organized, and in accordance with health and safety standards. Provides consistent and exceptional guest service, anticipating guest needs to exceed expectations. Adheres to all Company, Safety, and Department policies and procedures while fostering teamwork and building brand loyalty by living the JW Marriott Core Values.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED
  • Experience: Customer service experience with cash handling experience needed
  • Skills:
    • Must possess a positive attitude and work well with other team members
    • Must be neat, clean and well groomed
    • Must be familiar with the menu, preparation procedures and prices
    • Good understanding of basic math
    • Must be literate and able to communicate in English (verbal, written, listening) when dealing with staff and guests.
    • Ability to follow directions and keep accurate records
  • Required:
  1. Must be at least 21 years of age

Required Work Cards needed:

  • Valid Clark County Health Card
  • Valid Las Vegas Alcohol Awareness Card (TAM Card)

Key Responsibilities: Responsibilities include, but are not limited, to the following:

  • Perform all general cashier duties including greeting guests in a positive and friendly manner.
  • Accurately take and input guest orders into the POS system.
  • Receive and tender cash, credit, complimentary sales, coupons, vouchers, and all other approved transaction types.
  • Expedite orders in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Prepare, package, and hand off food and beverage items when required.
  • Refill and maintain stock in all designated cashier or service stations.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of cashier areas, service counters, and surrounding guest‑facing spaces in compliance with health and safety standards.
  • Assist team members as needed to ensure a consistent and positive guest experience.
  • Adhere to all Company, Safety, and Department policies and procedures.
  • Uphold excellent guest service standards and anticipate guest needs.
  • Build brand loyalty by exemplifying the JW Marriott Core Values.
  • Perform other duties as requested by management.

Work is performed in a (type of location, i.e., office, kitchen, restaurant, casino, etc.) environment and in other locations throughout the property. Must be tolerant to varying conditions of noise level, temperature, illumination and air quality. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. When on the casino floor, the noise level increases too loud. Additionally, smoking is permitted in casino areas consistent with Nevada state regulations, which are followed by the employer.

  • Interacts with management, fellow Associates, and guests.
  • Ability to verbally communicate effectively with guests and coworkers.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (five hours or more).
  • Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, upscale environment.
  • Requires transporting, pushing, pulling, and maneuvering items weighing up to 40 lbs.
  • Requires eye/hand coordination.
  • May require the use of standard office or POS equipment (Micros System).
  • May require basic math skills and the ability to distinguish letters, numbers, and symbols.
  • Ability to follow and comply with policies, procedures, job descriptions, daily memorandums, chemical labels (SDS), and other instructions.
  • Possible exposure to cleaning chemicals requiring use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
