This role will serve as a resource for project managers and leadership, ensuring accurate project setup, budgeting, billing, reporting, and compliance.
This position is ideal for a candidate with 2+ years of project accounting experience, strong attention to detail, and prior hands-on experience with Unanet ERP.
While this is a hybrid in-office/work from home position, the selected candidate must live in or relocate to the Washington, DC region within commuting proximity to downtown. This position requires two in-office days per week for the first 90 day's and once a week thereafter. Primary Responsibilities

Full-time position. An individual with a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience would be offered a salary in the range of $72,000 up to $80,000 depending on additional education or relevant experience.

- Manage project setup in Unanet, including budgets, labor categories, billing terms, and project structures.
- Prepare accurate, timely client invoices (including custom and cost-plus formats).
- Review supporting documentation such as labor reports, expense receipts, and progress narratives.
- Coordinate with project managers to ensure invoicing aligns with contract requirements and project progress.
- Monitor project financial performance, including budget vs. actuals, burn rates, percent complete, and revenue recognition.
- Support project closeout activities, including final invoicing and reconciliation.
- Support audits, including FAR, R&D, and client audits, by providing required documentation and reports.
- Assist with bookkeeping activities.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent relevant experience).
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in project accounting, preferably in a consulting or professional services environment.
- Demonstrated experience using Unanet ERP (or Deltek) for project setup, billing, and reporting.
- Working knowledge of accrual-based accounting, general ledger concepts, and financial statements.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently in a hybrid/remote work environment.
- Familiarity with FAR, grant-funded projects, or government contracting.
- Experience with Power BI, Tableau, or Microsoft Access.
