Position Summary

The Powder Coat Painter II will be expected to safely set up and operate powder application equipment including powder guns, hoppers, and powder booths while painting various shapes and sizes of steel and aluminum components on a moving conveyor line. You will be responsible for ensuring that required film thickness and cosmetic requirements of the products are of the highest quality.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Ensure all parts are properly painted and work instructions are followed precisely
  • Operate all coating equipment including guns, hoppers, and booth collection systems
  • Observe machine gauges and equipment operation to detect defects
  • Determine flow and coating quality by performing visual inspections
  • Bake parts at appropriate temperatures within time limitations
  • Ensure that all components are produced/coated efficiently and are consistent with company established goals for quality and on-time performance
  • Ensure quality standards and processes are used throughout the facility
  • Ensure safety guidelines are being met to assure a safe work environment
  • Ensure proper cleaning by removing waster powder and maintenance of equipment
  • Train new associates powder coating operations and techniques
  • Every employee has the right and obligation to stop any process or job, and immediately notify their supervisor if they deem it does not meet the quality requirements or is unsafe
  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Safety is our top priority to minimize risk. The floor layout is designed to optimize workflow and efficiency, ensuring smooth movement of materials and products. Employees are expected to adhere to all safety protocols, including the use protective gear when required.
Requirements:
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Able to work in a fast-paced, job-shop environment
  • Demonstrate ability to work independently without daily supervision
  • Must be able to work M-TH, 5:30am-4:00pm. To meet the needs of the customer’s occasional overtime may be required. The company will try and give as much notice as possible

Physical Demands

  • Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms, hands, fingers, legs and moving your whole body, such as lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, handling of materials, and operating machinery
  • Carrying & lifting 10 - 75 Pounds frequently
  • Ability to endure hours exposed to heat
  • Ability to move and transfer products with an overhead crane
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust and focus
  • Must be able to pass a general respirator medical evaluation

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in powder coating painting
  • Good knowledge of mechanics and repair of painting equipment
  • Knowledge wash and pretreatments
