Job Summary:
The Billing Manager is responsible for managing a team of billing specialists and overseeing the organization’s revenue cycle operations, including billing, coding oversight, claims submission, payment posting, and collections. This role ensures the timely and accurate processing of claims, maximizes reimbursement, and maintains compliance with all applicable regulations and payer requirements.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: (Additional duties may be assigned)
- Oversee all aspects of the revenue cycle, including charge capture, claims submission, payment posting, and accounts receivable follow-up
- Ensure timely and accurate billing to third-party payers, including Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance
- Monitor and manage claim denials, rejections, and appeals to optimize reimbursement
- Review aging reports and lead collection efforts to reduce outstanding accounts receivable
- Collaborate with clinical and administrative staff to ensure accurate documentation and coding practices
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and payer-specific billing regulations and guidelines
- Identify trends, errors, or inefficiencies in the revenue cycle and implement process improvements
- Prepare and analyze billing and revenue cycle reports for leadership
- Serve as a point of contact for billing-related inquiries from patients, staff, and external partners
- Assist with audits, both internal and external, related to billing and reimbursement
- Train and support staff on billing procedures, systems, and best practices
Supervisory Responsibility:
Work closely with the CFO to supervise and support the finance assistants, RCM team, and assigned finance staff.
Requirements:Education and Experience:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Healthcare Administration, Business, or related field preferred
- Minimum of 2–5 years of experience in medical billing, revenue cycle management, or healthcare finance
- 3+ years supervisory or management experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of coding systems
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR) and billing software
- Familiarity with Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payer requirements
- Certified Professional Biller and/or Certified Professional Coder preferred
- AACP or AHIMA certification preferred.
