Job Overview:
Company: Superior Rail & Iron Works Inc.
Salary/Pay Rate: $95,000 per year (Performance & Year-End Bonuses available).
Location: Onsite (New England Market).
Job/Employment Type: Full-Time.
Schedule: Monday - Friday, Overtime.
Project Scope: Residential, Commercial, Industrial, and Government/Federal.
Mandatory Licenses & Certifications: None Required.
The Opportunity: You will play a pivotal role in the Design & Technical division, transforming architectural concepts into high-precision fabrication plans. This hands-on position allows you to directly influence the production of iconic stair and railing systems across New England. You will join a collaborative team where your technical expertise ensures every weld and bolt matches the company's elite quality standards.
How You Will Make an Impact:
Produce complex 2D and 3D CAD models for custom stairs, railings, and miscellaneous metal structures.
Develop comprehensive fabrication drawings that include exact dimensions, materials, and assembly instructions.
Collaborate with estimators and project managers to ensure designs are both accurate and buildable.
Interface regularly with the shop floor to provide technical clarity and support during the production phase.
Revise and update technical drawings promptly based on evolving project requirements or client requests.
Validate that all designs comply with regional safety codes, engineering standards, and company specifications.
Mentor junior team members on company-specific drafting standards to maintain high output quality.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in CAD detailing specifically for metal fabrication or construction.
Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or comparable industry-standard CAD software.
Strong technical understanding of metal fabrication processes, material properties, and assembly techniques.
Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a focus on precision and accuracy.
Hands-on approach to problem-solving and a high degree of "user-friendly" communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications & Experience:
Previous experience working directly with shop fabricators to troubleshoot design-to-build challenges.
Demonstrated eagerness to learn and adopt proprietary company drafting standards.
Experience managing multiple concurrent projects with varying degrees of technical complexity.
