Drywall Finisher & Painter

Position Detail: Full Time

Hourly: Compensation is commensurate with experience

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm; overtime and occasional weekend hours as needed

General Description

The Drywall Finisher & Painter is responsible for performing high-quality drywall repairs, surface preparation, and interior painting services across a portfolio of properties. The crew will complete work orders for drywall/painting needs, apartment turns, renovation projects, and common area upgrades while maintaining productivity, safety, and professional standards. This position is expected to deliver consistent, high-quality finishes in occupied and vacant residential units, working efficiently to meet project timelines and turnover schedules.


Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in drywall repair and interior painting preferred.
  • Strong understanding of mud work, taping, finishing, and texture matching.
  • Knowledge of paint application techniques, including rolling, brushing, and spraying.
  • Ability to accurately measure, cut, and install drywall materials.
  • Experience working in multi-family housing environments preferred.
  • Ability to safely operate hand and power tools.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work at elevated heights.
  • Ability to stand, bend, climb, and perform physical labor for extended periods.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Basic math skills related to measurements and material calculations.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (required).
  • Maintain professional appearance and conduct at all times.
  • Frequent standing, bending, kneeling, and climbing ladders.
  • Ability to work in varying indoor and outdoor temperatures.
  • Ability to lift and carry drywall sheets, paint buckets, and tools.

Responsibilities

  • Perform drywall repairs, including patching holes, replacing damaged sections, taping, mudding, sanding, and finishing.
  • Match existing wall and ceiling textures (knockdown, orange peel, smooth finish, popcorn, etc.).
  • Prime and paint interior surfaces, including walls, ceilings, trim, and doors.
  • Prepare surfaces properly by cleaning, sanding, caulking, filling cracks, and protecting surrounding areas.
  • Complete full unit repaints during apartment turns within designated timelines.
  • Maintain clean job sites and ensure units are ready for resident occupancy.
  • Safely operate ladders, scaffolding, sprayers, and hand/power tools.
  • Protect flooring, fixtures, and resident belongings when working in occupied units.
  • Communicate daily progress to supervisor or project manager.
  • Maintain accurate reporting of materials used and time spent on projects.
  • Assist with minor carpentry or trim repairs related to painting work.
  • Follow all company safety policies and OSHA guidelines.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and company vehicles in clean and working condition.
  • Work efficiently as a team to complete multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Meet production and turnover deadlines.
  • Maintain consistent quality standards across all properties.
  • Provide professional service when interacting with residents and onsite staff.
  • Support maintenance teams during large renovation or capital improvement projects.
  • Demonstrate accountability, reliability, and punctuality.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
