Job Description

A heavy equipment mechanic is responsible for diagnosing mechanical issues and performing repairs on large machines such as excavators, bulldozers, loaders, cranes, and backhoes. They use diagnostic tools, hand tools, and specialized equipment to troubleshoot problems involving engines, hydraulics, transmissions, electrical systems, and braking systems.

Key Responsibilities

Inspect heavy equipment to identify mechanical or electrical problems

Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, lubrication, and filter replacements

Repair or replace worn or damaged parts (engines, hydraulic pumps, hoses, etc.)

Test machinery after repairs to ensure proper operation

Read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic codes

Maintain service records and documentation of repairs

Ensure equipment meets safety and operational standards
