Urethane Technician

OVERVIEW: The Urethane Technician is responsible for the setup, operation, and maintenance of the urethane pouring machine, curing oven, and burn-off oven. This position includes cleaning, preparing, molding, and de-molding various urethane-line components in compliance with Service Center ISO procedures. The Urethane Technician ensures work is performed safely, efficiently, and to quality standards to support on-time delivery and the overall success of the Service Center.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Execute all work in accordance with KSB GIW, Inc. policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with Health and Safety legislation and company policy.
  • Retrieve, prepare, and process components for urethane burn-off, selecting and programming appropriate burn-off cycles.
  • Prepare components for urethane pouring, ensuring all surface preparations meet KSB GIW, Inc requirements.
  • Assemble and install molds for various urethane applications; perform pre-heating processes as required.
  • Accurately calculate resin-to-curative ratios and select proper pouring cycles based on company procedures.
  • Pour and cure urethane materials, then de-mold and inspect finished components for quality compliance.
  • Conduct visual inspections and hardness testing to ensure conformance to specifications.
  • Use ERP systems to generate work-in-progress reports, compile job packages, and confirm routing steps.
  • Collaborate with internal work centers and personnel to verify scopes, mold designs, and costing.
  • Assist in expediting repair turnaround to achieve on-time delivery.
  • Maintain proper housekeeping and equipment maintenance standards.
  • Assist and train team members as required.
  • Ensure adherence to all quality standards, safety policies, and environmental regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Journeyman certification from prior employment is a plus.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in an industrial applications role; experience with pump components, coatings, or molding preferred.
  • General mechanical aptitude and ability to operate hand and power tools.
  • Experience interpreting blueprints, drawings, and both metric and imperial measurements.
  • Competence with SAP, C4S, Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Forklift and crane operation experience preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail, safety focus, and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet production schedules.
  • Must be willing to work overtime and pursue ongoing training as needed.

TECHNICAL SKILLS:

  • Operation and maintenance of urethane pouring and curing equipment.
  • Use of precision measuring instruments.
  • Ability to program and select proper process cycles.
  • Understanding of resin/curative chemistry and ratio calculations.
  • Proficient in SAP and C4S data entry and reporting.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to work in extreme temperature conditions for extended periods.
  • Must be able to lift up to 70 lbs. (Thomson & Florida) or 50 lbs. (Canada).
  • Frequent squatting, pulling, kneeling, pushing, and bending may be required.
  • Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
