Bar Manager at Pan Pacific Whistler – Whistler, British Columbia

The Bar Manager oversees all aspects involving the serving, ordering and control of alcohol and also uphold high service standards and practice responsible beverage service.

An iconic establishment in Whistler since 1997, the Dubh Linn Gate Irish Pub is located in Whistler’s premier hotel property, Pan Pacific Mountainside. We provide the best Irish pub experience outside of Ireland and our team consists of some of the most skilled, friendly & energetic hospitality professionals around.

Responsibilities:

• Assists with managing operations.
• Ensures that the bar is properly stocked at all times. Prepare and call in all weekly beer, wine, liquor and pop orders. Takes inventory and orders supplies.
• Maintains professional internal/external guest service: smiles, creates eye contact and uses employee/guest names.
• Maintains bar cash float.
• Is a role model for health and safety regulations and standards and responsible beverage service.
• Upholds the highest standard of cleanliness behind the bar- ensures that bar is cleaned and prepared for closing.
• Review daily the Promo Report, the voids report and the Daily Labour Report and deal with any anomalies.
• Maintain alcohol inventories at optimum levels to ensure minimal occasions of shortages at the most cost-effective basis possible - under no circumstances may we ever run out of Guinness!
• Creates & develops new drinks and scopes out new potential spirits, beers, wines etc.
• Oversee all training, scheduling and performance management of bartending team.
• Develop and market, with the General Manager special programs and events.
• Acts as floor manager, supervising the activities of the front of the house, in the absence of the Operations Manager & Floor Supervisor.
• Maintain relationships with all our key suppliers, including beer and wine reps.
• Create a professional and respectful working environment in which all employees feel comfortable, safe, motivated and challenged.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the General Manager.

Qualifications:

• Valid ‘Serving It Right’ certification.
• Previous supervisory/management experience in a very busy pub or bar environment mandatory.
• Personable, professional, mature individual with high grooming standards and exceptional service standards.
• Knowledge of "Squirrel" Point of Sale system an asset.
• Fluent in English.
• Excellent knowledge of spirits, wine and particularly beers.
• Ability to up-sell food and beverages.
