Available Internships – Role Summaries

Program Interns: Assist with developing, implementing, and evaluating select programs occurring at and before KDays. Provide research support and assist with program plans related to the area of focus. Communicate and assist in coordinating with program participants, working groups, and other stakeholders. Areas of focus include:

  • Historical Archivist: Responsible for managing inventory, collection, preservation, care and documentation of artifacts intended to preserve the past for the benefit of future purposes. Assists with planning, development, and execution of archival documentation system. Labels and categorizes archived items. Supports the development of an exhibition of select historical items at KDays.

    Operations Support Intern: Supports the operational planning and delivery of programming for KDays by helping source and secure needed resources. Coordinate closely with program leads, contractors, and participants to ensure smooth setup, execution, and teardown. Assist with budgeting tasks, track expenses, and maintain accurate records. Performs administrative duties and contributes to a final report outlining program outcomes. You’ll also support research and planning efforts aimed at improving future operations.

    People & Culture Assistant: This position provides support through customer service, accurate data entry, employee file management, coordination, and logistics. The successful candidate will participate in People & Culture program activities before, during, and after KDays.

    Engagement & Events Intern: Supports the coordination and execution of strategic corporate events, including, but not limited to, town halls, roundtables, social events, and other stakeholder engagement events as needed. Monitors the company's best practices and standard procedures for corporate event planning across the organization. Prepares briefing notes before and reports following all corporate events.

    Ticketing Intern: Supports the planning, implementation, and evaluation of specific ticketing initiatives for KDays. Coordinates ticket opportunities with group sales, consignment, and fundraiser partners. Fulfills ticket orders and packages. Supports and maintains database integrity. Assists with the coordination of ticketing locations.

    Sponsorship Intern: Provides support on tasks related to delivering Sponsorship commitments, including ticket orders, signage requests, social media campaigns, contests, and promotions. Supports the delivery of hospitality events or experiences exclusive to sponsors. Initiates, builds, and maintains relationships with staff, sponsors, stakeholders, and volunteers.

    Customer Care Intern: Responds to customer inquiries and concerns professionally and positively. Addresses questions, provides product information, and supports issue resolution. Promote the company and its offerings while identifying customer needs and recommending suitable products. Escalates complex issues to management when needed. Track and report customer feedback to help improve service. Availability for evening and weekend shifts is required.

    Production Assistant, Entertainment Intern: Supports the planning and delivery of entertainment programs for KDays. Update and manage program plans using internal systems. Coordinates with performers and A/V teams to confirm logistics and timelines. Assists with setup, operations, and takedown of entertainment areas. Build strong working relationships with staff, partners, and volunteers. Helps track program budgets and completes related admin tasks. Submit detailed reports after events to capture key outcomes.

    Environmental Programs Intern: Assists in delivering environmental programs for KDays, focusing on waste reduction and diversion. Helps implement program plans and manage timelines. Supports the development and delivery of training for exhibitors, volunteers, janitorial staff, and community groups. Coordinates program setup, operation, and teardown, collaborating with internal teams, contractors, and program leads. Oversees waste disposal and ensures proper source separation for maximum diversion. Perform administrative duties like data entry and file management. Address questions, monitor program effectiveness, respond to issues, and conduct research to improve future event operations. This position requires evening and weekend work starting around July 1, 2025.

    IT Applications Intern: Supports the Project Administrator and team with business analysis, solution design, software testing, and documentation. Update user guides and monitor the end-user experience. Provide internal and external support and assist with site analytics. During KDays, help cover the Show Office, Customer Care, and Volunteer Office as needed. Participate in debriefs and lessons learned from hosted events. The role may require evening, weekend, irregular shifts, and overtime during KDays. Candidates should have strong organizational and communication skills, proficiency in MS Office, and the ability to work independently and under pressure. Knowledge of the City of Edmonton and KDays is a plus. Full-time availability from May to August 2025 is required, with in-person and remote work as needed.

    Safety Intern: Supports the Safety Manager in promoting a safe environment during KDays by helping deliver daily safety briefings, conducting inspections, and identifying hazards. Assist with documenting Job Hazard Assessments, safety procedures, and incident reports. Participate in safety drills, walk-throughs, and audits to ensure compliance with Alberta OH&S standards. Help coordinate injury reporting, track corrective actions, and support overall safety documentation and follow-up throughout the event.

    Program Coordinator: This position supports the KDays team in organizing project tasks, schedules, budgets, and logistics. The coordinator communicates updates between teams, tracks milestones, and prepares reports on project progress and risks. The coordinator also helps manage issue logs and documents lessons learned for future planning. The coordinator coordinates meetings, collects information from partners, and supports various departments during the event. Evening, weekend, and irregular shifts may be required during KDays.

    Security Intern: Supports the Security Management team by helping coordinate and orient KDays security staff. Assists with distributing equipment, tracking schedules, and maintaining records. Shadow walkthroughs, respond to incidents, and input reports and logs. Help organize staffing data, identify security trends, and support safety improvements. Aid in onboarding, training, and tracking attendance. Provide guest support and ensure adherence to event security protocols.

    Signage Support Intern: Supports in the request, proof, printing, and production process of the print signage on the KDays grounds.

    The successful candidates will have:

    • Solid prioritization, organization skills, self-motivation, flexibility, and adaptability
    • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
    • Strong, demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)
    • Demonstrated sound judgment and professionalism
    • Solid understanding of handling confidential information with discretion and professionalism
    • Proven ability to work independently and perform effectively in a team environment
    • Ability to work under pressure and with time-sensitive deadlines
    • Lifting and moving of equipment up to 50lbs
    • Knowledge of the City of Edmonton and KDays is considered an asset
    • Availability to work full-time from May until August 2026
    • Be available for in-person and remote/off-site work as required

    Eligibility Criteria

    All successful candidates require the following to be eligible for the Canada Summer Job Program:

    • Must be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment.
    • Must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee status has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment.
    • Must have a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN) at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada per relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.

    Note: International students, temporary residents or work permit holders are not eligible to apply or participate in this program.
