The ideal Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant candidate is a self-starter who is dedicated and passionate about the therapy they provide. The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant position reports to the Location Lead unless directed otherwise directed.

Job Requirements:

  • Perform patient care and related activities in accordance with best practice/evidence-based practice guidelines, while following an individualized plan of care based upon evaluation/reassessment findings according to clinical guidelines with the guidance of a registered occupational therapist.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally in spoken and written English, including clinical documentation, patient education, and collaboration with team members
  • Ability to use computers, tablets, and electronic health record systems for documentation, scheduling, and communication.
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries, ethical conduct, and confidentiality at all time
  • Ability to work effectively with children who may exhibit behavioral, emotional, or sensory regulation challenges
  • Perform patient care and related activities within the scope of their training and responsibilities, demonstrating basic clinical competencies
  • Communicates effectively with patient/family/therapists/physicians and other health care professionals to promote quality patient care
  • Ability to meet productivity and documentation deadlines
  • Provides instruction/education to patients and families/caregivers with accurate and thorough information consistently to patients and families concerning their participation in the continuity of care
  • Assesses patient and family needs regarding their level of understanding, ability to assimilate information and the most desirable method of teaching
  • Maintains a current awareness and participates in office quality activities
  • Have a working knowledge about Sensory Integration, Visual Training, Sensory Feeding Therapy, Handwriting, Fine Motor, Reflexes, Therapeutic Listening Qualifications
  • Documents patient information in Electronic Medical Record according to office policies and clinic established guidelines.
  • Participates in staff development and attends health, safety and training in-services and other obligatory activities
  • Maintain confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations in all interactions
  • Ability to adhere to safety protocols and infection-control procedures
  • Ability to assist patients with transfers, positioning, or mobility as appropriate
  • Performs other essential functions as needed, including minimal supervision once trained

  • Ability to sustain physical and mental activity throughout a scheduled workday
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in emotionally charged or high-stimulation environments
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 30–40 pounds occasionally
  • Ability to maintain prolonged standing or sitting
  • Ability to maintain required licensure, certifications, and eligibility to work in the United States throughout employment
  • Ability to sit, stand, bend, twist, and reach throughout the workday
  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

  • Associates Degree and current Texas license to practice as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant
  • Must be articulate, courteous, and supportive in dealing with clinical and administrative colleagues, patients and parents with ability to honor confidentiality
  • Two years pediatric experience preferred
