About This Position
POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES
Advises the Chief Financial Officer on all matters relative to finance and accounting. Supervises and directs all phases of accounting and control, asset accounting and reporting, general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable and financial planning and analysis. Maintains adequate internal controls in areas of responsibility to safeguard Community First assets. Supervises and coordinates accounting activities involving payroll entries, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash collection and posting of other receivables, general ledger, and fixed assets of Community First. Prepares Internal Financial Statements (GAAP). Responsible for preparation and submission of external reporting (CMS, TDI, HHSC). Responsible for supervision of all financial audits. Ensures accuracy of and compliance with generally accepted accounting principles, statutory accounting principles and with Community First policies and procedures. Oversees the Health Plan’s forecasting and budgeting, consistent with Executive Leadership’s goals and the changing business environment.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, statistics, business, accounting, or finance is required. Master’s degree in a related field and certification by the State Board of Certified Public Accountancy is preferred. Seven to ten years of Finance & Accounting experience with five years in a position with supervisory responsibilities is required. Previous experience in a managed care organization or health insurance company is required. Knowledge of Texas Managed Medicaid as well as federal Medicare Advantage and commercial health insurance exchange programs. Must possess strong interpersonal skills as well as strong leadership qualities. Progressively responsible management level experience in healthcare preferred.
