Summary:
- The Customer Service Representative serves as the primary contact for patients and families regarding financial assistance, insurance coverage, pre-service estimates and payments, establishes payment plans, addresses billing inquiries and concerns, and coordinates with contracted service partners. This position is responsible for the process of financially clearing uninsured patients to the facility and conducting financial interviews with patients. The Patient Accounting Customer Service Rep works with health insurance providers to determine coverage and benefit limits, provides information regarding hospital payment options and financial assistance programs, completing the necessary forms and applications in accordance with hospital policies. Ability to deescalate difficult situations and solve complex problems and issues with minimal or no supervision. Requires negotiation and listening skills. Must be a self-starter who is adept at problem solving and possesses the skills necessary to plan, organize, and achieve goals. Ability to multitask and adhere to work plans and timelines.

Education
- High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)

Experience
- One year of related experience.

Computer Skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, email and basic computer skills for other software used throughout the hospital for your area of responsibility.

Other Requirements
- Ability to work in a public-facing role in a professional, caring manner under all circumstances. Knowledge of applicable Federal and State laws and regulations, and requirements for various carriers. This position requires constant sitting and frequent use of hands and fingers.
