About This Position

FRONT DESK ASSOCIATE

REPORTS TO: FRONT DESK ASSOICATE TEAM LEAD

RESPONSIBLE AND ACCOUNTABLE FOR:

  • Greeting patients at Check In and Check Out, enters demographic information and scan information into EMR
  • Obtains patient copays and other payments to post as needed
  • Maintaining efficiently and accurately the multi-commuications made in the office
  • Assumes the role of patient advocate and company representative
  • Making every effort to remain a flexible, cooperative, and supportive member of the RGI office staff

TYPICAL PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS:

  • Frequent mobility and/or sitting required for extended periods of time. Some bending, lifting, and stooping required
  • Full range of body motion, including manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination
  • Normal color perception and corrected visual activity
  • Manual dexterity to operate keyboard, calculator, and photocopier
  • Involvement with coworkers, management, physicians, staff, hospital personnel, and patients. Occasional high stress work may require dealing with angry, demanding patients and/or personnel

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Clean environment in a gastroenterology physicians’ office

DUTIES AND TASKS INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
GENERAL

  • Keeps all patient information, practice information, and staff information strictly confidential
  • Performs routine work under general supervision
  • Follows established procedures, referring all new or unusual questions/concerns to Team Lead or Manager
  • Acts as patient advocate, ensuring a setting that protects the rights of the patient and provides an atmosphere that does not compromise the patient’s physical or mental well-being, safety, or dignity
  • Demonstrates knowledge of HIPPA, OSHA, and Fire Safety measures
  • Maintains knowledge of, and complies with established policies and procedures
  • Attends all required meetings

SPECIFIC

  • Greets visitors and gives assistance in the preparation of forms relating to patient information, medical data, and insurance coverage
  • Enters appropriate patient demographic information into Electronic Medical Record applications
  • Scans documents into patients EMR as needed
  • Obtains copays and other payments associated with patient account balances or preps to post as needed or hands in payment to a Medical Billing Specialist to be posted
  • Schedules appointments for office visits
  • Check obituaries and reports death status to Epic in absence of Team Leader
  • Performs a variety of miscellaneous tasks as required by the practice and management

ATTENDANCE AND RELIABILITY:

  • Does not abuse or take advantage of sick time. Regular attendance is a necessity
  • Reports to work as scheduled and is able to complete all functions of the job
  • Always provides proper notification and advance notice of absences
  • Reports to work, is at the assigned station, and ready to work at proper start time
  • Returns from 30-minute lunch on time

OTHER

  • Maintains a well-groomed, appropriate appearance
  • Maintains a clean, well-kept work area
  • Performs other duties as required by Team Leader or Manager

NOTE:

  • All staff will be sufficiently in-service to each procedure prior to performing that task
