Job Title: Inpatient Med-Surg Registered Nurse (RN)
Schedule: 12-Hour Rotating Shifts (Day/Night); 0700-1930 or 1900-0730
Clearance Required: Indian Health Service Security Clearance (Background Check, Fingerprinting)
Position Overview:
The Parker Indian Health Center, part of the Colorado River Service Unit (CRSU), seeks a compassionate, experienced, and skilled Inpatient Med-Surg Registered Nurse (RN) to support a 17-bed Critical Access Hospital offering 24/7 inpatient and emergency care services. The RN will deliver comprehensive, culturally sensitive care to tribal members and Native American communities in remote Arizona, California, and Nevada locations.
Key Responsibilities:
-Perform comprehensive nursing assessments and initiate the nursing process for admitted patients.
-Administer medications, oxygen therapy, blood products, and perform various medical treatments as prescribed.
-Operate and manage medical equipment including suction machines, EKG monitors, and ventilators.
-Monitor vital signs, neurological status, and patient responses to treatments.
-Provide direct patient care and assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs).
-Recognize and respond to life-threatening emergencies and adverse drug reactions.
-Document patient care, observations, and outcomes using Electronic Health Records (EHR).
-Collaborate with physicians, other nurses, and healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
-Supervise and delegate tasks to ancillary nursing staff.
-Collect and handle laboratory specimens (blood, urine, stool, etc.).
-Comply with CMS, Joint Commission, and CRSU standards in all documentation and patient care.
-Participate in required staff meetings, trainings, and quality control checks (e.g., crash carts, blood glucose monitoring).
Qualifications:
-Education: Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN), Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), or diploma from an accredited nursing program.
-Licensure: Current, active, and unrestricted RN license from any U.S. state or territory.
-Certifications Required:
-BLS (Basic Life Support)
-ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
-Experience: Minimum of 2 years Med-Surg experience within the last 24 months.
-EHR Proficiency: Ability to use and document in an Electronic Health Record system.
Preferred Skills:
-Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work well with diverse populations.
-Critical thinking and problem-solving skills in acute care settings.
-Culturally competent care experience, especially with Native American communities.
-Ability to remain calm and professional in high-stress environments.
Additional Requirements:
-Must pass Indian Health Service credentialing and background clearance.
-Compliance with the Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act.
-Completion of onboarding training modules (e.g., Relias competencies).
-Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, and assist with patient mobility and transport.
-Must not use tobacco products on HHS-controlled property per DHHS Tobacco-Free Policy.

The CRSUs multidisciplinary team also includes public health, dental, behavioral, and environmental health services.
