All-Day 4K Teacher at The Young Men's Christian Association of Stevens – Stevens Point, Wisconsin

The All Day 4K Teacher is responsible for the care and education of all children enrolled in the YMCA All-Day 4K program which includes wrap around care. Teacher must abide within the policies and procedures of the YMCA, State Licensing regulations, and Stevens Point School district. The All-Day 4K Teacher is responsible for implementing the curriculum and providing a safe and healthy learning environment.

QUALIFICATIONS

Position requires meeting the qualifications for child care teacher under DCF 251 Licensing Rules for Group Day Care Centers and experience working with children ages 2½ -5, and their families. A Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood is required. This position requires creativity, flexibility, high energy levels, patience, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work as a team. CPR w/AED and First Aid certification is a prerequisite of hire, but will allow 60 days post-hire to obtain.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Applicant must be able to observe children by sight and sound and have the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with children and adults. Must be able to lift young children weighing up to approx. 50 pounds. Moving small tables, chairs, and some equipment is necessary. Position also requires that staff person is active during entire class time. This may include swimming, running, sitting on the floor, and leading large group games.

TYPICAL WORK SCHEDULE

1. Maintain Full Time status August 1st through June 30th.

2. Monday -Thursday 7:30am-4:30pm and Friday 6 hours of prep.

3. Will follow school district calendar regarding breaks, in-service days, etc.

RESPONSIBILTIES

1. Establish and maintain a safe and healthy 4-Year-Old Kindergarten environment through room arrangement and organization, implement snack and healthy eating, maintain safe equipment, and follow state licensing regulations.
2. Provide child care services before and after 4K programming in accordance with the YMCA Child Care Services programming and DCF 251 Licensing Rules for Group Day Care Centers. (Wrap around care).
3. Enhance physical and intellectual competence by providing a balance between child/teacher initiated activities, quiet/active opportunities, small/large motor play, plan and implement an integrated curriculum and encourage a multi-choice, pressure free, hands-on environment.
4. Implement curriculum daily. Promote hands-on activities, self-esteem, cultural diversity and creative expression. Establish a semi-structured setting with smooth transition periods while allowing for flexibility.
5. Establish positive and productive relationships with children and families.
6. Supervise and encourage the children with positive guidance and techniques.
7. Maintain a commitment to professionalism and quality programming for children by modeling the YMCA mission and values.
8. Attend staff meeting, staff training, in-services, and promotional events provided by the YMCA and the Stevens Point School district.
9. Support and supervise assistants and volunteer assigned to your classroom.
10. Attend to all State Licensing Regulations as well as YMCA Quality Standards. Adhere to OSHA standards and guidelines.
