Position Description
We invite applicants for a training grant support-postdoctoral fellow position in Gu lab at Harvard Medical School and Howard Hughes Medical Institute in Boston Massachusetts. The work of the Gu lab is focused on understanding the cellular and physiological mechanisms underlying the unique neurovascular interactions including the blood-brain barrier and neurovascular coupling, and harnessing these discoveries for therapeutics. We welcome applications from recent PhD graduates who are interested in these or related fields, particularly those who may bring a new technology or perspective to bear on the work in the lab.

The successful candidate will work with Dr. Gu to develop a mentored research project within the scope of the lab’s research focus. In addition to carrying out bench research, the successful candidate will be expected to apply for fellowship funding, contribute to the writing of grants and manuscripts, participate in teaching and mentoring of lab members as needed, and otherwise contribute to overall lab operations and collaborative environment, and participate in discussions and present results to Dr. Gu and other members of the lab on a regular basis. Additionally, postdocs will prepare presentations or posters to discuss results in department-wide seminars and at scientific conferences or workshops
Basic Qualifications
  • Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. in neurobiology or related fields

Expected Dates:
  • Application deadline: July 31, 2026.
  • Start date: The position is expected to start in late summer 2026 with some flexibility.
  • Duration: This is a one-year term position from the date of hire, with the possibility of extension, contingent upon work performance, business need, and continued funding to support the position.
