Store Room Assistant
Location: Boone, North Carolina | Full-Time | Monday - Friday

You’ll be responsible for receiving, storing, distributing, and tracking materials throughout the health system — helping keep our operations running smoothly and efficiently. Compensation: Starting pay begins at $18.15 per hour, with competitive rates based on experience and education.
Schedule: Full-time, variable shifts.

Receive, store, and distribute medical and non-medical supplies in accordance with established procedures.

Maintain accurate records of inventory, deliveries, and usage.

Ensure timely delivery of supplies and equipment to designated departments and facilities.

Inspect incoming shipments for accuracy and quality; report discrepancies or damages promptly.

Assist in maintaining a clean, safe, and organized storeroom environment.

Operate material handling equipment and vehicles safely and in compliance with policy.

Support team members and departments to ensure supply needs are met in a timely and efficient manner.

Demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and adherence to UNC Health Appalachian’s Mission, Vision, and Values.
Education:

High school diploma or GED required.

Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving history (no alcohol- or drug-related convictions).
Experience:

Previous experience in inventory, warehouse, or supply chain operations preferred, but not required.
Licenses/Certifications:

Skills & Abilities:
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively and courteously with colleagues and vendors.
- Capable of performing tasks requiring physical exertion, including lifting and moving heavy items.
- Dependable and able to work under supervision in a fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to customer service, safety, and teamwork.
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, and reaching throughout the shift.
- Lift, push, pull, or carry up to and over 50 lbs.
- Exposure to electrical/mechanical equipment, chemicals, and hospital environment hazards.
- May work variable shifts including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Manual dexterity and mobility required for equipment handling and inventory tasks.
