Sr. Site Reliability Engineer

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Sr. Site Reliability Engineer based in Canada.

This role is designed for an experienced infrastructure engineer who thrives on building reliable, scalable, and secure systems.
You will help shape the foundation that powers critical authorization solutions used by organizations worldwide.
The position combines site reliability engineering, cloud infrastructure, automation, and distributed systems expertise.
You will collaborate closely with engineering teams to improve system resilience, performance, and operational excellence.
As part of a remote-first environment, you will have the opportunity to influence architecture, processes, and best practices.
This is a high-impact role where your technical decisions directly contribute to product reliability and customer success.

Accountabilities:

In this role, you will take ownership of infrastructure reliability and operational excellence by designing scalable systems, improving automation, and ensuring high availability across production environments. You will collaborate with engineering teams to build resilient architectures, troubleshoot complex issues, and continuously enhance platform performance.

  • Design, implement, and maintain highly available and scalable infrastructure solutions supporting products, projects, and customer environments.
  • Monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and resolve reliability, availability, and performance issues proactively.
  • Automate infrastructure deployment, configuration management, and operational workflows to improve efficiency and consistency.
  • Improve system reliability, security, and scalability through monitoring, capacity planning, and performance optimization.
  • Troubleshoot complex infrastructure and application issues across production and testing environments.
  • Partner with software engineers to design systems that are resilient, secure, and optimized for distributed environments.
  • Participate in on-call rotations and respond effectively to production incidents.
  • Create and maintain documentation for system configurations, troubleshooting processes, and operational guidelines.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate has strong experience in site reliability engineering, cloud infrastructure, and distributed systems, with the ability to solve complex technical challenges and collaborate effectively across teams. You should be comfortable working with modern infrastructure tools and building reliable systems at scale.

  • Proven experience as a Site Reliability Engineer or in a similar infrastructure-focused engineering role.
  • Strong understanding of networking, operating systems, cloud platforms, and infrastructure architecture.
  • Experience with Site Reliability Engineering principles, system design, and distributed computing concepts.
  • Experience working with programming languages such as NodeJS, Java, Python, Ruby, or Go.
  • Hands-on experience with containerization technologies including Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or Pulumi.
  • Familiarity with monitoring and logging platforms such as Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK Stack.
  • Experience with Git, GitHub, and continuous integration/deployment systems.
  • Understanding of relational database internals, with experience in distributed SQL databases considered a plus.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities in remote team environments.
  • Experience with authorization systems or security-focused infrastructure is a plus.
