SAM Big Mo Student Worker in Spartanburg, South Carolina at Spartanburg Methodist College

This Federal Work-Study position supports the Spartanburg Academic Movement's Big Mo Initiative, a community-based program designed to expand postsecondary access for high school students in Spartanburg County. The student employee will assist in outreach, program coordination, and resource development that help connect students and families with college access information, financial aid resources, and postsecondary planning support.

This position will be performed primarily at the Spartanburg Academic Movement Office located at 101 N Pine Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302. This position may involve a combination of in-person and remote work, depending on organizational needs. Students are responsible for their own transportation to and from the work location.

Under the supervision of designated staff at Spartanburg Academic Movement and in coordination with Spartanburg Methodist College, the student employee may perform the following duties:

• Assist with planning and preparation for college tours, workshops, and postsecondary access events for local high school students
• Assist with outreach efforts that connect students and families with information about scholarships, FAFSA completion, and college access programs
• Help develop and maintain resource materials related to postsecondary planning and financial aid opportunities
• Assist in collecting, organizing, and maintaining program participation data in accordance with organizational procedures
• Provide administrative and logistical support for community programming and events
• Perform other related duties that support the mission of the Big Mo Initiative and comply with Federal Work-Study program requirements

Students may work up to 20 hours per week while classes are in session. Work schedules will be arranged in coordination with Spartanburg Academic Movement and Spartanburg Methodist College to ensure that employment does not interfere with the student's academic responsibilities.

Employment is contingent upon continued eligibility for the Federal Work-Study and availability of funds.
