Fundamentals of Networking, Department of Cybersecurity - Adjunct Faculty

In this role, you will teach an introductory networking course within a higher education cybersecurity program, delivered fully online to adult learners. You will help students build foundational knowledge of networking technologies, including LAN, WAN, and wireless systems, while introducing key concepts such as the OSI model, network protocols, and security principles. The environment is mission-driven and student-focused, designed for working adults balancing education with professional and personal responsibilities. You will engage learners through interactive, application-based instruction and consistent feedback to support their academic success. This position emphasizes flexibility, academic rigor, and meaningful impact in a remote teaching environment. You will also contribute to continuous improvement of course delivery and student learning outcomes.

Accountabilities:
  • Deliver online instruction for Fundamentals of Networking, guiding students through core concepts in LAN, WAN, wireless networking, OSI models, and networking protocols.
  • Facilitate student engagement through frequent interaction, discussion, and application-based learning activities designed for adult learners.
  • Evaluate student performance using structured rubrics and provide timely, constructive feedback to support academic growth.
  • Support problem-based learning by helping students connect theoretical networking concepts to real-world cybersecurity and IT scenarios.
  • Maintain subject matter expertise in networking and security, ensuring course content reflects current industry practices.
  • Contribute feedback on curriculum improvement and course enhancement to strengthen learning outcomes.

Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Networking, or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
  • Professional experience in computer networking, cybersecurity, or related IT domains.
  • Prior experience teaching or training adult learners in an online or higher education environment is strongly preferred.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly and effectively.
  • Solid understanding of networking fundamentals, including OSI model, protocols, and network security principles.
  • Ability to engage, motivate, and support diverse adult learners in a remote learning environment.
  • Comfort working in structured academic environments with assessment and feedback responsibilities.
