Job Description
We are seeking a Primary Care Physician – Advanced Wound Care Specialist to provide expert wound care management to patients in their homes, skilled nursing facilities, and group homes. This role is ideal for an advanced practice provider passionate about improving patient outcomes and quality of life through primary care and specialized wound care treatments.
As a Primary Care Physician – Advanced Wound Care Specialist, you will conduct physical examinations, interpret lab tests, oversee patients' health, diagnose and manage complex wounds, perform advanced wound care procedures, and collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams. This role requires a strong understanding of disease prevention practices, helping people lead healthy lives, wound healing principles, infection control, and chronic disease management.
This position offers autonomy, flexibility, and the opportunity to work in a mobile healthcare environment, providing care to patients in Memphis, TN, and surrounding counties.
Responsibilities:
- Advanced professional knowledge
- Promote good health practices
- Oversee patients' overall health
- Educate patients and their family members on diseases, epidemics, and prevention
- Inform patients about their health conditions
- Propose treatments for chronic and infectious diseases
- Diagnose health conditions and illnesses
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests (blood tests, X-rays, etc.)
- Examine patients and their medical records
- Conduct comprehensive wound assessments and develop individualized treatment plans.
- Perform advanced wound care procedures, including debridement, negative pressure wound therapy, and application of biologics or skin substitutes.
- Monitor wound healing progress and adjust treatments accordingly.
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests such as wound cultures, lab work, and imaging studies.
- Educate patients and caregivers on wound care management and disease prevention strategies.
- Prescribe appropriate medications for overall health, wound healing, and infection control.
- Collaborate with primary care providers, specialists, and home health agencies to ensure coordinated patient care.
- Maintain accurate medical records and document patient progress in compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Promote evidence-based wound care practices and stay updated on advancements in wound management.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Primary Care Physician – Advanced Wound Care Specialist in primary care, acute care, chronic care practices, home health, and geriatrics.
- Expertise in advanced wound management, including chronic and acute wound care, pressure injuries, diabetic ulcers, venous ulcers, and post-surgical wounds.
- Strong knowledge of infection control and wound healing principles.
- Ability to work autonomously while collaborating with healthcare teams.
- Excellent communication and patient education skills.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and clinical decision-making skills.
- Valid Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant license and certification in wound care (preferred but not required).
