Overview
Are you passionate about supporting young children’s social-emotional development and partnering with families and educators?
Join our team as a Behavior Specialist, where you will promote responsive environments where infants and young children can reach their developmental goals and build strong emotional foundations.
Key Responsibilities
As a Behavior Specialist, you will:
- Collaborate with Staff & Families: Partner with educators, family members, and service providers to coordinate individualized and program-wide supports
- Develop Behavior Support Plans: Guide the creation and implementation of individualized strategies and developmental goals
- Provide Coaching & Feedback: Help staff build confidence and capacity through observation and reflective practice
- Model Best Practices: Demonstrate strengths-based, trauma-informed, and non-punitive approaches to behavior support
- Support Families: Share behavioral strategies that promote success at home and in the classroom
- Monitor Progress: Track and use behavioral data to inform interventions and improve outcomes
- Deliver Training: Provide professional development on social-emotional development and positive behavior supports
- Maintain Compliance: Ensure accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with all state and federal regulations
- Travel: Provide on-site support across 13 sites in Colorado
- Other Duties as Assigned

Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, or a related field
- Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification or willingness to obtain
- Experience working with children ages 0-5 in clinical or therapeutic settings
- Knowledge of child development, trauma-informed care, and behavior support strategies including de-escalation and crisis response
- Experience using data to inform practice
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
Preferred:
- Head Start experience
- Experience with diverse populations
- Familiarity with the Pyramid Model
Additional Details:
- Location: Grand Junction, Colorado
- Schedule: This is a full-time, 12-month position; (8:30 to 5:00, flexible for travel)
