This role combines fleet support, instructor responsibilities, and systems integration expertise to help operational units develop organic communications capability while reducing reliance on OEM support. The ideal candidate will be equally comfortable teaching in a classroom, troubleshooting systems on the waterfront, and supporting the integration of emerging capabilities into the fleet.

What You'll Do

Fleet Support

  • Provide hands-on support for communications and electronic systems installed aboard sUSVs and supporting infrastructure.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues involving RF systems, SATCOM, networking equipment, navigation systems, and command and control equipment.
  • Support waterfront maintenance activities, system upgrades, and technical assessments.
  • Coordinate with government personnel, program offices, OEM representatives, and fleet operators to resolve communications-related issues.
  • Develop technical recommendations to improve communications readiness and reliability.

Training Development & Delivery

  • Develop and deliver communications-related instruction for operators and maintainers supporting sUSV operations.
  • Assist in the development and delivery of lesson plans, practical exercises, training materials, and supporting documentation.
  • Support operator and maintainer qualification efforts and communications-related training activities.
  • Conduct over-the-shoulder training and mentorship to build fleet self-sufficiency.
  • Evaluate training effectiveness and recommend improvements to meet evolving operational requirements.

Systems Integration

  • Support integration efforts involving communications equipment, Unmanned Operations Centers (UOCs), and shore-based command and control systems.
  • Participate in testing, demonstrations, and fielding activities for new communications capabilities.
  • Assist with the development of technical procedures, troubleshooting guides, and system documentation.
  • Understand and support planning efforts involving communications architecture and employment concepts.

Required Qualifications

  • Active Secret Clearance.
  • U.S. Citizenship.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience supporting military communications systems, networking, electronics, or expeditionary communications operations.
  • Experience delivering formal or informal technical instruction to operators and maintainers.
  • Experience troubleshooting RF, SATCOM, networking, and tactical communications systems.
  • Strong understanding of IP networking principles and communications troubleshooting methodologies.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with technical teams, operators, maintainers, and military personnel.
  • Comfortable working aboard vessels and in waterfront environments supporting operational units, testing events, and training activities.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to operate independently in dynamic and evolving operational environments.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to travel as required to support customer requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior service as an Information Systems Technician (IT), Electronics Technician (ET), Advanced Electronics Computer Field (AECF), Cryptologic Technician (CT), Marine Corps communications/electronics specialty, or equivalent military communications specialty.
  • Experience supporting Maritime Expeditionary Security Force (MESF), Coastal Riverine Force (CRF), Naval Special Warfare (NSW), expeditionary communications units, unmanned systems programs, USVRON, SURFDEVGRU, or similar operational maritime organizations.
  • Experience supporting Unmanned Operations Centers (UOCs) or command and control systems.
  • Navy Instructor Training Course (NITC) graduate/qualification or equivalent instructor experience.
  • Experience supporting operational test events, fleet experimentation, waterfront operations, or capability integration efforts.
  • Experience conducting operator training, over-the-shoulder instruction, or technical familiarization training in operational environments.
  • Familiarity with Navy maintenance and logistics processes.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Electronics, Communications, or a related field.

Why This Role Matters

Communications systems are critical to the successful employment of unmanned platforms. This role directly supports fleet readiness by increasing operator proficiency, improving system reliability, and developing sustainable communications capability within operational units.
