Business Affairs Manager ( Manager, Contracts)

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Business Affairs Manager (Manager, Contracts) based in the United States.

This role offers the opportunity to join a fast-paced creative and marketing environment where business strategy, legal expertise, and production excellence come together.
The Business Affairs Manager will oversee contract operations and support the successful delivery of innovative campaigns and content projects.
Working across creative, production, legal, and client-facing teams, this position ensures projects move forward with strong commercial and compliance foundations.
The ideal candidate will bring expertise in advertising, media, entertainment, and content production agreements while helping teams navigate complex business decisions.
This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys problem-solving, negotiating, and creating scalable processes that enable creative excellence.
You will play a key part in protecting business interests while empowering teams to deliver impactful work across multiple channels and platforms.

Accountabilities:

The Business Affairs Manager will manage the contractual, legal, and operational aspects of creative projects while partnering with internal teams and external stakeholders to reduce risk and support successful execution. This role requires strong attention to detail, commercial awareness, and the ability to balance business requirements with creative goals.

  • Collaborate with legal, production, creative, project management, and influencer teams to align on contract terms, deliverables, compliance requirements, and project expectations.
  • Review, draft, and negotiate commercial agreements including Master Services Agreements (MSAs), Statements of Work (SOWs), talent agreements, and production contracts.
  • Identify potential legal, financial, and operational risks within creative concepts, production plans, and contractual agreements, providing practical recommendations and mitigation strategies.
  • Support creative teams with intellectual property reviews, licensing requirements, talent usage rights, and content clearance considerations.
  • Evaluate production bids, budgets, and creative treatments to identify potential risks and ensure alignment with project scopes and business objectives.
  • Manage agreements related to live-action productions, animation projects, creator partnerships, influencers, and digital content initiatives.
  • Monitor advertising, marketing, and entertainment industry regulations to help ensure projects meet compliance standards.
  • Maintain accurate contract tracking systems, including agreement status, renewals, expirations, and key documentation.
  • Support scalable business affairs processes and contribute to continuous improvements across project workflows.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented business affairs professional with experience supporting creative, marketing, advertising, or production environments. They should combine strong contract knowledge with excellent communication skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic setting.

  • 2+ years of experience in business affairs, legal, contracts, or compliance roles within advertising, marketing, media, or related industries.
  • Proven experience drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and managing commercial agreements, including talent agreements, MSAs, SOWs, and production contracts.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Law, or a related field; a JD is preferred but not required.
  • Strong understanding of intellectual property rights, licensing, trademarks, copyrights, and talent usage rights.
  • Experience working with advertising agencies, production companies, media organizations, publishers, or entertainment partners.
  • Knowledge of digital marketing, media production, content creation workflows, and platform-based campaigns.
  • Familiarity with broadcast, social media, creator partnerships, branded content, and new media environments.
  • Experience supporting union and non-union productions, including familiarity with agreements involving organizations such as SAG-AFTRA or IATSE, is preferred.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate complex contractual topics clearly.
