Process Technician

Location: Portland, IN

Compensation: $25.37 + Shift Differential

Shift: 2nd Shift

Position SummaryReporting directly to the Production Manager, the Process Technician plays a key role in ensuring the efficient, high-quality, and timely production and shipment of ThermoSafe products. This position is responsible for operating equipment across multiple production lines and requires the versatility to learn, adapt, and succeed in various departments. The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, and committed to maintaining excellent attendance, which is essential to supporting team performance and achieving operational goals.Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor production processes, workflow, and material movement to ensure quality standards and customer specifications are consistently achieved.
  • Accurately track and report production metrics while communicating production status and updates as required.
  • Perform preventive maintenance activities, including equipment testing and trial runs, to support optimal production performance.
  • Complete tool changes and repairs as needed, ensuring full compliance with all HECP and LOTO procedures.
  • Conduct and/or coordinate quality inspections, including burst testing, salinity checks, and weight verification.
  • Collaborate with maintenance personnel and vendors to secure necessary supplies and manage work order requirements.
  • Maintain an organized tooling inventory, ensuring all equipment is stored in clearly labeled and designated locations.
  • Achieve production targets established by the Shift Supervisor, Production Manager, and plant leadership team.
  • Provide direction to Inspector/Packers to maximize labor efficiency, support productivity, and help control operating costs.
  • Qualifications
    • Sufficient mechanical skills to troubleshoot and resolve machine issues.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously as needed.
    • Reliable, self-motivated, committed, and quality focused.
    • Ability to read and understand manufacturing instructions.
    • Ability to perform repetitious duties, including standing for long periods of time.
    • Ability to work quickly while maintaining a high level of craftsmanship and attention to detail.

    Preferred

  • Previous experience in a manufacturing, production, or industrial environment.
  • Experience operating, troubleshooting, and performing basic maintenance on production equipment.
  • Knowledge of quality control processes, inspections, testing procedures, and production reporting.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work effectively across multiple production areas.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles, including 5S methodology, continuous improvement practices, and workplace organization initiatives.
