As the Head of Forward Deployment Engineering, you will lead a high-impact technical organization responsible for delivering enterprise AI solutions from concept through production. This role combines strategic leadership with hands-on engineering, enabling you to shape the operating model, mentor a growing team, and drive successful customer deployments at scale. Working at the intersection of engineering, product, sales, and customer success, you will influence product direction while partnering with executive stakeholders on mission-critical initiatives. This is an opportunity to help define best practices for enterprise AI adoption in a fast-growing, innovation-driven environment. The position is primarily remote within the United States, with regular presence in New York City as needed.

Accountabilities:
  • Lead and scale the Forward Deployment Engineering organization by defining its vision, operating model, execution frameworks, hiring strategy, and quarterly objectives.
  • Mentor, coach, and develop a high-performing team while fostering technical excellence, customer impact, and operational efficiency.
  • Own the technical strategy for strategic enterprise customers, leading engagements from discovery and solution architecture through proof of concepts, production deployments, and expansion.
  • Partner closely with Product, Engineering, Sales, and Customer Success teams to accelerate customer adoption and influence product roadmap priorities through customer insights.
  • Serve as the senior technical advisor for executive stakeholders, including CTOs, engineering leaders, founders, and enterprise decision-makers.
  • Remain hands-on by designing reference implementations, AI applications, retrieval pipelines, agentic workflows, production integrations, and technical prototypes.
  • Develop scalable internal resources such as playbooks, documentation, demo environments, tooling, reusable architectures, and best practices.
  • Represent the organization externally through customer engagements, industry events, technical presentations, developer communities, and thought leadership initiatives.
Requirements
  • 10+ years of software engineering experience, including significant experience in customer-facing technical roles such as Forward Deployed Engineering, Solutions Architecture, Solutions Engineering, or Sales Engineering.
  • At least 4 years of leadership experience managing and scaling customer-facing engineering teams.
  • Strong software engineering expertise with Python, APIs, distributed systems, and modern software architecture.
  • Deep experience designing and deploying production AI systems, including large language model applications, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), agentic workflows, evaluation frameworks, and scalable AI infrastructure.
  • Strong understanding of modern AI application ecosystems, orchestration frameworks, retrieval technologies, deployment strategies, and production operations.
  • Proven success leading enterprise technical engagements from architecture discussions through successful implementation and long-term expansion.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, stakeholder management, and business acumen with the ability to balance customer success, engineering priorities, and commercial objectives.
  • Builder mindset with experience creating scalable processes, operational frameworks, and execution playbooks in fast-moving environments.
  • Based in New York City, willing to relocate, or able to maintain regular in-person collaboration with the team and customers.
  • Experience leading Forward Deployment Engineering, Solutions Architecture, Professional Services, or similar organizations, along with public speaking, open-source contributions, or AI infrastructure expertise, is considered a strong advantage.
Benefits
  • Competitive base salary ranging from $230,000 to $310,000 USD.
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance fully covered for employees and eligible family members.
  • 401(k) plan with up to 4% company matching and immediate vesting.
  • Generous paid parental leave (20 weeks for primary caregivers and 12 weeks for secondary caregivers).
  • Company-paid short-term disability, long-term disability, and life insurance.
  • Monthly reimbursement of up to $85 for mobile and internet expenses while working remotely.
  • Flexible remote work within the United States, with periodic collaboration in New York City.
  • Career development opportunities, continuous learning, and significant ownership over strategic initiatives.
  • Collaborative international environment working alongside highly talented engineering and AI professionals.
  • Opportunity to make a meaningful impact on next-generation AI technologies and enterprise adoption.
