Associate Director, Wireless Engineering

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Associate Director, Wireless Engineering based in United States.

This leadership role oversees the design, operation, and evolution of a large-scale wireless infrastructure supporting multiple locations and thousands of users.
You will guide a specialized engineering team responsible for ensuring seamless WiFi performance, reliability, and security across a complex enterprise environment.
The role blends strategic planning with hands-on technical oversight, including architecture design, deployment standards, and lifecycle management of wireless systems.
You will drive initiatives that enhance network scalability, automation, and operational efficiency across global sites.
Collaboration is key, as you will work closely with service desk teams, security stakeholders, and infrastructure engineering groups to resolve incidents and improve user experience.
This is a high-impact position where your decisions directly influence connectivity, performance, and digital experience at scale.

Accountabilities
  • Lead the daily operations and long-term evolution of enterprise wireless infrastructure across multiple sites, ensuring high availability, performance, and security.
  • Manage and mentor wireless engineering staff, providing technical guidance, training, and performance oversight.
  • Design, implement, and maintain wireless network architecture, including hardware/software configuration, upgrades, and lifecycle management.
  • Develop automation scripts and deployment tools to streamline wireless network provisioning and operational efficiency.
  • Define and execute strategic roadmaps for wireless technology adoption, capacity planning, and infrastructure modernization.
  • Collaborate with security and IT operations teams to ensure compliance, resilience, and incident response effectiveness.
  • Oversee troubleshooting and resolution of wireless incidents in coordination with service desk and infrastructure teams.
Requirements

The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in enterprise wireless networking and a strong foundation in systems integration within large, complex environments. You should be comfortable balancing strategic leadership with hands-on technical problem solving, while effectively guiding teams and cross-functional stakeholders.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years of experience in wireless network engineering and large-scale infrastructure management.
  • Proven experience supporting and maintaining extensive wireless access point deployments across distributed environments.
  • Strong knowledge of TCP/IP networking, wireless protocols, and enterprise network security principles.
  • Advanced understanding of operating systems including Windows, UNIX/Linux, and macOS environments.
  • Experience with automation, scripting, and network configuration tools.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to diagnose complex network issues and drive timely resolution in high-pressure environments.
