The above reflects the anticipated hourly wage range for this position if hired to work in New Jersey.

The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.

Job Overview:

The HIM Technician II is cross trained in all areas of the Health Information Management Department: medical record quality control, transcription, queries, analysis/chart deficiencies, prepping, scanning, boxing, birth certificates, death certificate validation, chart correction, audits, suspension process, and working Epic Queues. This role maintains chart quality in both the paper and electronic record and ensures all operative reports and H&Ps are dictated/available within 24 hours of any surgical procedure. HIM Technician II follows up with physicians regarding query completion and reconciles deficiency reports and updates aging and suspension lists accordingly. This role assists and educates all new physicians regarding medical record completion and assists with clerical tasks as needed, including, but not limited to medical record assembly, scanning and storage.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Minimum education of a High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of three years clerical experience, preferably in a Medical Records department.
  • Knowledge of medical record completion requirements in accordance with State and Federal standards.
  • Exceptional communication skills

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Full-Time, Hourly position– 37.5 hours a week
  • Monday – Friday 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
  • Travel to Oceanport, NJ for 1 month of in person training
  • Travel after training the role is remote with occasional system site visits as required

Essential Functions:

  • Adheres to HIPAA Guidelines.
  • Processes Carelink requests timely and accurately.
  • Assists with release of information view and approve functions to support vendor operations as needed.
  • Submits tickets for merges, IT requests, and other functions on behalf of the vendor.
  • Populates and updates spreadsheets accurately and timely.
  • Follows up with obtaining documentation for Corporate Coding / Corporate Compliance and other requestors.
  • Oversees the processes of Datavant for Regulatory Audits (Permedion, RAC, etc.)
  • Works with Corporate Departments on Special Audits (TPEs, TJC, NJDOH etc.) to gather the information needed and prepare the records for timely submission.
  • Ensures accurate and timely review of medical records in Cross Coverage / View and Approve for quality reviews.
  • Attends meetings on time and actively participates in discussions and responds to inquiries by Management on status (questions, education etc.)
  • Set up daily quality reviews.
  • Process DRG letters for Patient Accounting action.
  • Prepares audits for release to inspector review.
  • Meets and sustains Productivity Standards of 95% based on your tenure in the position.
  • Meets and Sustains Quality Standards of 95% based on your tenure in the position.
  • Scanning and Indexing / Documentation Management / Release of Information Regulatory.
  • Preform other duties as assigned.
