Position Summary
-
Surgeon is responsible for diagnosing and treating medical conditions, disorders, and diseases of the foot and ankle through the application of specialist medical skills and knowledge. Based on the findings, they prescribe surgical and non-surgical treatment and medications to attempt to heal any illness or injuries and provide disease prevention and management. They also perform foot and ankle surgery as indicated.

Core Job Functions
- Examines patient and collects relevant medical information to determine proper diagnoses. This may include ordering tests and evaluating results.
- Based the diagnosis, determines which combination of medication, therapies and surgery will best treat the patient’s podiatric condition(s). Consults with other medical professionals and physicians when needed and refers to other specialists as appropriate.
- Explain treatment plan to patient, answer questions, provide education and obtain consent as necessary. Prescribe medications and therapies, and perform surgery, as per treatment plan.
- Fully utilizes electronic medical record for documenting all work and retrieving all patient records. Provides CPT and ICD codes for billing, answers all questions from billing staff promptly and complies with all guidelines for documentation and coding. Closes all notes and submits all charges within 24 hours of service with rare exceptions. Cooperates fully with all managed care, accountable care and other government and payor guidelines and requirements.
