Position Summary

The Manufacturing Technician operates specialized equipment used to cut, grind, surface, edge, tint, coat, and polish ophthalmic lenses according to prescription specifications established by optometrists and opticians. This role requires attention to detail and adherence to quality standards to ensure lenses meet established specifications.

Responsibilities include:

• Operating one or more lens manufacturing machines and equipment.
• Applying lens coatings and tints as required.
• Performing edging and surfacing processes.
• Polishing lenses to remove imperfections and ensure quality standards are met.
• Assembling and aligning completed eyewear products.
• Conducting quality inspections to verify accuracy and compliance with prescription requirements.
• Maintaining a safe, clean, and organized work environment.

• 95% or more of each shift requires standing and/or navigating between multiple workstations in a small space, including completely enclosed areas
• Operating machines as trained and relaying defects or failures to manager and/or training coworkers
• Implementing safety protocols as trained to ensure a safe and successful working environment

• Assisting in pre and/or postproduction as needed
• Attend meetings and training assigned
• Other duties as required

• Ability to operate machinery safely within agency procedures, including safety rules and regulations
• Ability to work independently, including prioritizing tasks and self-monitoring errors
• Ability to concentrate on repetitive tasks and attention to detail
• Ability to perform physical requirements of the position, including standing, repetitive motion, bending, kneeling, crouching, reaching, grasping, manual dexterity to perform assembly operations, tolerating strong odors, speaking, standing, sitting, navigating stairs.
• Ability to use small hand tools, including eyeglass screwdrivers, strong fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination
• Ability to tolerate demands, a changing work environment and occasional unexpected event
• Ability to meet Universal Expectations of Employment and productivity requirements
• 18 years or older
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Documentation of successful completion of a background and fingerprint check as specified by Oregon law, as well as a urinalysis drug screen
