Position Details

  • Position: Direct Care Coach – Full-Time

  • Employment Type: Full-Time; Hourly Non-Exempt

  • Department: Women’s Residential Program

  • Reports To: Assistant Program Director

  • Location: Duluth, GA

Schedule

  • Full-Time Evening Schedule: Sunday through Thursday, 5:00 PM – 12:00 AM (35 hours/week).

  • General: Participation in mandatory direct care trainings, staff meetings, and shift handoffs as needed.

About the Role

The Direct Care Coach is responsible for the daily care, supervision, and life skills coaching of participants within the Women’s Residential Program during the evening hours. Operating in close collaboration with therapeutic, educational, and program leadership, this role creates a safe, restorative, and trauma-informed living environment.

This position plays a direct role in participant growth by modeling healthy boundaries, facilitating evening routines, teaching independent living skills, and ensuring shift safety and compliance. It is an ideal opportunity for a compassionate, detail-oriented caregiver or human services professional passionate about direct participant support and trauma recovery.

Key Responsibilities

Program Service Delivery & Daily Operations

  • Oversee and facilitate evening program schedules, evening routines, wind-down activities, and participant support.

  • Actively model and apply a strength-based approach in all participant and team interactions.

  • Collaborate with program leadership to support individualized participant growth, support, and development plans.

  • Safely transport participants to appointments, activities, and off-site meetings using organization vehicles; assist with routine vehicle upkeep.

  • Conduct and document routine house checks and specific room checks for participants requiring elevated support.

  • Lead participant enrichment activities, life skills groups, and psycho-educational groups during assigned shifts based on participant needs.

  • Facilitate proper medication oversight, document medication administration, and administer random drug screens according to program protocols.

  • Teach and guide participants in daily living skills, including personal hygiene, laundry, cooking, and household cleanliness.

  • Maintain complete and timely shift logs, room check sheets, balanced living tracking sheets, and Electronic Health Record (EHR) entries.

Safety, Trauma-Informed Care & Culture

  • Ensure facility security by participating in safety drills, environmental safety checks, and crisis de-escalation during evening hours.

  • Provide care that is culturally competent and trauma-informed, serving all participants without regard to race, gender, sexuality, ethnicity, or spiritual beliefs.

  • Develop intentional, healthy connections with participants while modeling professional boundaries and mission-driven characteristics.

  • Provide crisis intervention, immediate safety checks, and emotional support as needed.

  • Attend all mandatory staff meetings, direct care trainings, and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma or GED required (Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, or a related field preferred).

  • Minimum of 1 year of direct care support experience in a residential setting or working with vulnerable populations.

  • Valid Driver’s License with a clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) and ongoing clearance to transport participants in organization vehicles.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, email systems, and general computer skills; ability to learn Electronic Health Record (EHR) software.

  • Current CPR and First Aid certifications (or ability to complete within the first year of employment).

  • Documentation of at least two professional references and one personal reference attesting to suitability for working with vulnerable populations.

Employment Requirements

Employment is contingent upon successfully completing all required pre-employment screenings and maintaining compliance throughout employment, including:

  • Criminal background check determination as required by state law.

  • Drug screening.

  • Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check.

  • Verification of professional and personal references.

Physical & Working Conditions

  • Ability to lift and move objects up to 25 pounds occasionally.

  • Ability to stand, walk, climb stairs, and perform household tasks for extended periods.

  • Ability to sit at a computer and complete digital documentation for extended periods.

  • Moderate local travel for participant transportation, errands, and training meetings.
