Job Summary: The Business Development Representative is responsible for responding, identifying, and pursuing new business opportunities or leads while building and nurturing potential client relationships and contributing to the growth of the organization.
What does a day in the life of a Business Development Representative I look like?
- Respond promptly and professionally to all new business opportunities inquiries via phone, email, or chat
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities within targeted markets and industries
- Generate high-quality leads through various channels, including cold calling, email, social media and other networking events and platforms
- Evaluate leads and opportunities to determine their fit with the organization’s target client and ensure they meet minimum criteria
- Initiate and maintain meaningful conversations with potential clients to understand their needs, challenges and objectives
- Conduct in-depth research to create a solid understanding of the organization’s products/services and effectively communicate the value proposition to potential clients
- Foster a collaborative environment with clients showcasing partnership, communication and engaging conversations on a frequent basis
- Accurately track and manage sales activities, leads and opportunities in CRM software
- Adhere to company policies and procedures
- Meet or exceed performance targets for related KPIs
- Continuously improve knowledge of products, services, and processes by participating in training programs and continuous learning modules
- Collaborate with other departments as needed
- Maintain a positive, empathetic, and professional attitude toward customers and colleagues at all times
- Perform other duties as assigned
What are the qualifications of a Business Development Representative I?
- 1+ years of experience in business development or similar role, preferably in a call center environment
- 6 to 1+ years background in automotive industry is highly preferred (Solid knowledge of cars, parts, and the auto industry).
- Strong communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written
- Strong confidence, "gift of the gab," active listener, and able to keep prospects engaged on the phone
- Strong negotiation skills
- Proficient in using computers and various software applications
- Experience with tools such as Salesforce, HubSpot, Slack, Google Workspace, or similar platforms is preferred.
