About the Role:
The Utility/Custodial position within the Transportation and Warehousing industry plays a critical role in maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient operational environment. By managing waste disposal, performing routine custodial duties, and assisting with minor repairs, the Utility/Custodial worker helps to uphold company standards and regulatory compliance. Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Basic knowledge of cleaning techniques and use of custodial equipment.
- Familiarity with safety procedures related to cleaning chemicals and equipment.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in custodial or utility roles within transportation, warehousing, or similar industries.
- Certification in occupational safety or hazardous materials handling.
- Basic mechanical skills for minor equipment maintenance.
- Ability to operate warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks or forklifts (with proper certification).
- Strong communication skills to effectively coordinate with team members and supervisors.
Responsibilities:
- Perform routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, and trash removal across all facility areas.
- Maintain restrooms, break rooms, and common areas to ensure cleanliness and hygiene standards are met.
- Assist with the setup and breakdown of equipment or materials as needed to support warehouse and transportation operations.
- Conduct minor maintenance and repair tasks, reporting any significant issues to the maintenance supervisor.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations by properly handling cleaning chemicals and equipment.
- Support waste management processes, including sorting and disposing of recyclable and non-recyclable materials.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to identify areas for improvement in facility upkeep.
