Job Description
Holmes Motors is seeking a detail-oriented and driven Legal Assistant/Recovery Assistant to support our legal and asset recovery operations. In this role, you will assist our corporate legal team and recovery specialists in tracking delinquent accounts, recovering company assets, and managing legal documentation. Your work will directly minimize financial losses while ensuring strict adherence to state and federal collection laws.
Primary Objective:
To support the recovery process by ensuring all legal files are properly prepared, documented, filed and tracked. In additions, helping the company maximize recovery on lease deficiencies, vehicle damages excess mileage charges and other outstanding obligations.
Requirements:Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Contacting courthouses to obtain filing requirements, court procedures, filing feels and hearing information.
- Gather and organize all required documentation to initiate legal actions.
- Prepare small claims court filing packets and assist with civil court filings when appropriate
- Track court dates, filing deadlines, judgements and post-judgement collection activities.
- Maintain accurate records of legal accounts and litigation status.
- Assist in preparing garnishment, contempt, and enforcement filings.
- Communicate with court personnel and internal departments regarding case status.
- Verify addresses, employment information, and other debtor information when necessary
- Request and maintain copies of court documents, judgements and case filings
- Prepare account summaries and recovery packages.
- Monitory repayment agreements, consent orders, and court-ordered payment plans for compliance.
- Assist with post-judgment recovery efforts, including garnishments and debtor examinations.
- Ensure all files are complete, accurate, and properly documented before legal action is initiated.
Qualifications:
- Strong organizational and administrative skills.
- Ability to communicate professionally with courts and customers.
- Experienced with collections, legal administration, repossessions, leasing, or recovery operations preferred.
- Ability to manage multiple files and deadlines simultaneously.
- Strong attention to detail and follow-through.
