Job Description
SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS
The Environmental Health & Safety Engineer is responsible for ensuring that the organization is in compliance with all applicable environmental, health & safety laws and regulations. This position plays a critical role in protecting the health and safety of employees, as well as the general public and the environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Responsible for identifying and evaluating potential hazards, implementing safety protocols, and training employees on proper safety procedures.
· Responsible for evaluating, assessing and selecting training programs to prepare for a variety of situations related to the environment, health & safety.
· Manages all environmental concerns including EPA and City regulations.
· Performs safety inspections, manages safety meetings and OSHA reporting.
Requirements:ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP
Reporting to and directly accountable to the CEO for effectively performing all responsibilities. Provides reports on all aspects of Environmental, Health & Safety performance as requested.
QUALIFICATIONS
A college degree is preferred with a major in chemistry or environmental services or an equivalent amount of experience working within PCB manufacturing or a closely related industry. Experience in a technical or manager position would be helpful. Good communication skills and the ability to work well with people is essential. Demonstrated leadership skills are beneficial.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Occasional travel by airplane and automobile in conducting business is necessary. Ability to communicate orally with board of directors, customers, vendors, shareholders, management, and other co-workers, both individually and in front of a group is crucial. Regular use of the telephone and e-mail for communication is essential.
Sitting for extended periods is common. Hearing and vision within normal ranges is essential for normal conversations, to receive ordinary information and to prepare or inspect documents.
No heavy lifting is expected. Exertion of up to 25 lbs. of force occasionally may be required. Good manual dexterity for the use of common office equipment such as computer terminals, calculator, copiers, and FAX machines.
Good reasoning ability is required to solve a wide range of technical problems. Able to apply statistical calculations, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, and sampling theory as well as algebra, linear equations, and other analytics as required. Able to understand and utilize financial reports and legal documents to conduct business.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The job is performed indoors in a traditional office setting. Activities include extended periods of sitting and extensive work at a computer monitor and/or calculator.
