Subject Matter Expert – IMP


Position Type: Full-time, Exempt, Salary

Reports to: Subject Matter Expert Manager

Supervisory Responsibility: IMP Manufacturing

Location: Jacksonville, FL

Summary Objective

The Subject Matter Expert will focus on solving complex manufacturing challenges and building scalable processes. This role requires stepping back from daily production responsibilities to concentrate on root cause analysis, process development, and technical problem-solving. You will work as part of a high-performing team with dedicated time, decision-making access, and resources to identify what's broken, fix it at the root, and build systems that scale for future growth.

Essential Functions

Technical Problem Solving:

  • Lead investigation and resolution of difficult, recurring manufacturing problems.
  • Conduct root cause analysis of production, materials, quality, and engineering issues.
  • Develop and implement permanent solutions rather than temporary fixes.
  • Apply deep technical expertise to solve problems that require specialized knowledge.

Process Development:

  • Transform tribal knowledge into documented, repeatable processes and procedures.
  • Design and optimize material layout, flow, and inventory management systems.
  • Create comprehensive technical documentation and standard operating procedures.
  • Build scalable processes that support assembly line transformation and future expansion.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Work closely with Engineering teams to resolve design changes, drawing updates, and change management issues.
  • Collaborate with Materials Management to establish optimal inventory levels and emergency acquisition processes.
  • Partner with Project Management to improve project execution and timeline performance.
  • Support Production teams by removing technical obstacles and capability barriers.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities for manufacturing capability enhancement and cost reduction
  • Implement Lean manufacturing principles and waste elimination initiatives
  • Drive process standardization and quality improvement across manufacturing operations
  • Support development of key performance indicators and measurement systems.
  • Prepares for ISO 9001 and other audits.

Work Location

This position will work out of our facilities in Jacksonville, FL. This position is not approved for telecommuting or working remotely.

Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. This position is performed inside and outside with uncontrolled weather conditions.


Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit. The employee frequently is required to walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand. The employee must frequently lift or move objects up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move objects up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Travel
Up to 25% travel is expected for this position.

Required Education and Experience.

  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on manufacturing experience with demonstrated technical expertise.
  • Proven ability to solve complex technical problems and implement lasting solutions.
  • Experience with heavy manufacturing, fabrication, or large assembly operations.
