Job Description

At Dias, our purpose is to create new technologies to image the earth and locate the resources that the world needs. We are passionate about technology, but nothing is more important than keeping our people safe and healthy.

Dias is a world leader in deploying solutions to help explore, map, and protect the subsurface. We operate globally from our home in Saskatoon with Canadian offices in Toronto and Vancouver, and international offices in Australia, Mexico, and Chile.

We are seeking a skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our geophysical Saskatoon R&D team. In this role, you will be responsible for assisting in the design, assembly, testing, and repairing of prototype and production level geophysical equipment.

About the role

Are you a hands-on Mechanical Engineer with a passion for building innovative hardware from the ground up?

We are seeking a highly capable Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the mechanical design of our next-generation survey instruments. This is a role for someone who thrives on turning ideas into real, functional hardware—someone who understands how to design for performance, manufacturability, and rugged real-world use.

What you'll do

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer at Dias, you’ll own the mechanical design of new geophysical instrumentation—from napkin sketch to prototype to production. You'll work closely with electrical and firmware teams, contributing across disciplines to create robust, field-ready equipment. We're looking for someone with broad and deep experience—someone who’s built v1.0 of products, not just one part of a larger machine.

Key responsibilities

  • Mechanical enclosure design and thermal management for high-power electrical systems
  • Thermal and structural analysis of electrical enclosures and geophysical field equipment
  • Creation, analysis, and maintenance of complex CAD models and assemblies
  • Product ownership of custom-designed equipment, including lifecycle management
  • Review designs, drawings, and analysis to ensure quality and adherence to standards
  • Lead and support the mechanical and fabrication team in design execution and build activities
  • Assist in training team members on tools, processes, and engineering fundamentals
  • Act as a senior technical resource for troubleshooting complex mechanical issues

Requirements

  • Diploma or higher in mechanical engineering or a related field
  • Experience with ruggedized equipment design
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical principles and troubleshooting techniques
  • Ability to create, read and understand schematics and technical drawings
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proficiency with computer design software (Fusion 360, or similar)
  • Proficiency in CNC Operation, Router Tables, 3D Printers
  • Experience working in a Research & Development setting

What we offer

  • Competitive salary based on experience.
  • Comprehensive health and wellness benefits.
  • Flexible, collaborative work environment focused on innovation and exploration.
  • Opportunities for career growth in a dynamic, high-impact industry.
