About the Role:

The Activities Attendant plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for individuals by organizing, facilitating, and supervising a variety of recreational and social activities. This position is focused on creating a safe, engaging, and inclusive environment where participants can enjoy meaningful experiences that promote physical, mental, and emotional well-being. The Activities Attendant collaborates closely with other staff members to tailor activities that meet the diverse interests and abilities of participants. Through attentive observation and interaction, the attendant ensures that all activities are conducted smoothly and that participants receive appropriate support and encouragement. Ultimately, this role contributes significantly to fostering a positive community atmosphere and improving overall participant satisfaction.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience working with diverse populations in a recreational or lodging and accommodation setting.
  • Basic knowledge of safety and emergency procedures.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and assist participants physically when needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in CPR and First Aid.
  • Experience working with elderly, children, or individuals with disabilities.
  • Ability to execute creative and adaptive activity plans.
  • Bilingual skills or proficiency in additional languages.

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate daily recreational activities tailored to the interests and needs of participants.
  • Monitor participant engagement and safety during activities, providing assistance and modifications as necessary.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, activity outcomes, and any incidents or concerns.
  • Prepare and organize materials and equipment required for activities, ensuring a clean and safe environment.

Skills:

The required skills enable the Activities Attendant to effectively communicate with participants and colleagues, ensuring clear instructions and supportive interactions during activities. Strong interpersonal skills help in building rapport and encouraging participation from individuals with varying abilities and backgrounds. Physical stamina and attentiveness are essential for safely managing activities and responding promptly to any participant needs or emergencies. Preferred skills such as CPR certification enhance the attendant's ability to provide a secure and inclusive environment.
