At Sibanye-Stillwater, every role supports our mission to operate safely, responsibly, and sustainably. We are seeking an Analytical Lab Analyst to support laboratory operations through sample preparation, analytical testing, and precious metal analysis within our commercial operations.
This role focuses on conducting laboratory analyses, preparing samples for testing, operating analytical equipment, and supporting safe and efficient laboratory operations in a fast-paced industrial environment.
Job Purpose
Prepare and analyze samples using approved laboratory methods to support precious metal recovery, quality control, and operational performance.
Key Responsibilities
• Weigh and prepare samples for fusion and analytical processes
• Measure and dispense precise portions of materials for analysis
• Operate fusion equipment and ensure proper calibration
• Conduct fire assay and gravimetric analyses for precious metals
• Prepare ICP standards, blanks, and stock solutions
• Perform digestion and sample preparation techniques
• Prepare and run samples on ICP instrumentation with minimal supervision
• Record and document analytical data and findings accurately
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment
• Assist in troubleshooting analytical issues and maintaining laboratory equipment
• Collaborate with team members to improve laboratory procedures and efficiency
• Support hazardous waste handling and RCRA compliance activities as required
• Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or related scientific field required
• One to three years of industrial, research, or inorganic laboratory experience preferred
• Understanding of laboratory processes, analytical techniques, and safety procedures
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to work flexible schedules and overtime as needed
• Knowledge of health and safety programs in a manufacturing environment is a plus
Compliance and Physical Requirements
• Must meet ITAR and NAID requirements
• Ability to pass background check, drug screening, and medical clearance
• Ability to safely work with hazardous materials and waste streams
• Ability to work in a laboratory and industrial environment with required PPE
• Participation in required hazardous waste and safety training programs
Schedule and Benefits
• Full-time onsite position, Monday through Friday, 6 AM to 2:30 PM
