Job Description

Director, National Foundation Partnerships

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Director, National Foundation Partnerships in United States.

This role sits at the intersection of strategic fundraising, relationship management, and high-impact partnership development with leading institutional funders. You will oversee a portfolio of foundation partners, serving as the primary relationship owner responsible for cultivating trust, securing funding, and ensuring successful grant execution. The position blends external engagement with internal coordination, requiring close collaboration across program, executive, and regional teams to deliver a seamless funder experience. You will also contribute to shaping prospect strategy and strengthening the broader funding pipeline through targeted research and cross-team initiatives. Success in this role requires strong writing, sharp strategic judgment, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving philanthropic environment. This is a highly visible position within a national fundraising team working to advance large-scale social impact initiatives.

Accountabilities
  • Manage a portfolio of institutional foundation partners, including end-to-end ownership of proposals, grant reports, compliance documentation, and ongoing engagement.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with foundation program officers and stakeholders through regular communication and strategic engagement.
  • Design and execute tailored stewardship strategies to ensure a high-quality and consistent partner experience across the portfolio.
  • Collaborate with internal program, executive, and regional teams to align grant implementation and reporting with funder expectations.
  • Support senior leadership with briefing materials, due diligence responses, and preparation for high-level funder meetings.
  • Lead prospect pipeline activities, including identifying, researching, qualifying, and advancing new institutional funding opportunities.
  • Facilitate regular prospect reviews and coordinate next steps across portfolio managers and development teams.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date CRM records to support relationship management and fundraising strategy.
Requirements

This role requires experience in institutional fundraising, strong writing ability, and excellent relationship management skills in a complex, mission-driven environment. Candidates should be highly organized, adaptable, and comfortable working across multiple stakeholders and competing priorities.

  • Minimum of 4 years of fundraising experience, preferably managing institutional or foundation partnerships.
  • Proven track record of growing and managing a portfolio of funders or donors.
  • Strong written communication skills, particularly in developing compelling grant proposals and detailed reporting.
  • Ability to build trust and maintain relationships with both internal stakeholders and external funders in virtual and in-person settings.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage deadlines, systems, and complex grant requirements.
  • High adaptability and ability to shift priorities in response to urgent or high-stakes donor needs.
  • Experience working in CRM systems and managing relationship data effectively.
  • Strong analytical and research skills to support prospect identification and qualification.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively across distributed teams.
Benefits
  • Competitive salary based on geographic tier, ranging approximately from $74,300 to $117,200 annually depending on location and experience.
  • Remote-first work structure with flexibility across the United States.
  • Opportunity to manage high-impact institutional partnerships contributing to large-scale social outcomes.
  • Professional development opportunities within a national fundraising and development organization.
  • Exposure to senior leadership and high-level philanthropic stakeholders.
  • Collaborative, mission-driven work environment focused on equity and impact.
  • Access to cross-functional projects and strategic initiatives beyond core portfolio responsibilities.
