This role sits at the intersection of storytelling, media strategy, and fan-driven pop culture, focusing on the promotion of highly creative comics, manga, manhwa, and graphic novel titles. You will design and execute impactful publicity campaigns that elevate both emerging and established creators across two dynamic imprints. The position blends traditional media relations with modern digital outreach, influencer engagement, and event-driven promotion. Working closely with authors, editors, marketers, and external partners, you will help shape how stories reach audiences and build cultural momentum. The environment is fast-paced, collaborative, and deeply connected to the evolving entertainment and publishing landscape. This is a highly visible role where creativity, strategic thinking, and strong industry relationships directly influence a title’s success. It’s ideal for a publicist passionate about comics, graphic storytelling, and fandom culture.
- Develop and execute strategic, multi-channel publicity campaigns for frontlist and select backlist titles across both imprints.
- Build media visibility through national, regional, and niche outlets, including broadcast, print, digital, podcasts, and pop culture platforms.
- Serve as the primary contact for authors, creators, agents, and licensors, ensuring consistent and high-quality communication and support.
- Write compelling press materials such as press releases, media pitches, talking points, and campaign messaging tailored to each project.
- Secure media coverage and manage outreach to journalists, influencers, and entertainment and comics-focused media networks.
- Plan and coordinate author events, tours, and appearances, including logistics, scheduling, and promotional outreach.
- Collaborate with marketing, editorial, and sales teams to align publicity efforts with broader campaign strategies and brand positioning.
- Track campaign performance, manage budgets, process expenses, and stay current on media and industry trends.
- 5–7 years of experience in book publicity or a closely related communications field, ideally with exposure to comics, graphic novels, manga, or pop culture media.
- Strong understanding of the media landscape and proven ability to secure high-impact national and digital coverage.
- Established network of media contacts and demonstrated success in pitching creative, story-driven campaigns.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to craft persuasive and tailored messaging.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple campaigns, deadlines, and stakeholders simultaneously.
- Experience coordinating author events, tours, and public appearances, including logistics and planning.
- Familiarity with pop culture conventions and entertainment industry events is highly valued.
- Collaborative mindset with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively across teams and external partners.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; familiarity with tools such as Muck Rack, Cision, NetGalley, or Canva is a plus.
- Annual salary of approximately $66,500.
