Job Description
GI Specialties Technician
GENERAL SUMMARY:
The GI Specialties Technician interacts with patients/families of all ages. Performs various supportive functions within the GI Specialties Lab. Adheres to established hospital/department policies to assist personnel within the department.
PRINCIPAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or equivalency required. Prior experience in a medical environment preferred.
OTHER CREDENTIALS / CERTIFICATIONS:
Valid State of Nebraska drivers license required. Verification and maintenance of responsible driving record per facility standards required.
Basic Life Support (CPR) certification required.

PRINCIPAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- *Commits to the mission, vision, beliefs and consistently demonstrates our core values.
- *Cleans, disinfects and sterilizes equipment used in administration of GI procedures.
- *Assists Gastro Assist RNs with transporting patients and equipment; sets up rooms for procedures; monitors patient vital signs.
- *Assist physician and Gastro Assist RN before, during, and after diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
- Escorts patients for dismissal.
- *Maintains clean/safe working environment and neatness of the department by following infection control policies; orders supplies, stocks rooms and maintains inventory as assigned.
- *Maintains proficiency in types of scopes and how to clean them.
- Assists in orientation of staff as directed.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
