Job Description
Under the direct supervision of the Surveillance Shift Manager, this position is responsible for monitoring, detecting, and reporting activities that may compromise the safety, integrity, and compliance of casino operations. The Surveillance Operator plays a key role in protecting team members, guests, company assets, and the overall gaming environment while supporting a professional, discreet, and compliant workplace.
Key Accountabilities
- Monitors, records, and reports irregular, suspicious, or non‑compliant activities using surveillance systems
- Conducts continuous observation of gaming areas, cash handling zones, count rooms, and sensitive operational areas
- Ensures adherence to gaming regulations, internal controls, and company policies
- Prepares detailed written reports, incident logs, and statements as required
- Detects and documents procedural violations, advantage play, theft, fraud, or other prohibited activities
- Supports investigations by reviewing, retrieving, and preserving video evidence
- Communicates promptly and effectively with Security, Gaming Operations, and Management when required
- Assists in maintaining the integrity and functionality of surveillance equipment
- Monitors access to restricted areas and identifies unauthorized entry attempts
- Provides real‑time support during emergencies, disputes, or incidents
- Maintains confidentiality and handles sensitive information with discretion
- Builds effective working relationships with internal departments while maintaining necessary operational independence
- Ensures compliance with licensing laws, gaming regulations, health and safety requirements, and other statutory obligations
- Performs other duties as assigned or directed
Education and Qualifications
- Must be available to work a flexible schedule including overnights, weekends, and holidays
- Must be comfortable working 10 hour shifts
- Minimum 2 years of work experience; experience in surveillance, security, or gaming operations an asset
- Serving It Right Certificate
- Ability to obtain and maintain a valid Gaming License
- Surveillance or investigative training an asset
- Strong attention to detail and ability to focus for extended periods
- Proficiency with computer systems and video monitoring software
- Fluency in additional languages an asset
Work Environment Considerations
- Primarily office‑based environment within a secure surveillance room
- Extended periods of sitting and screen monitoring required
- Non‑traditional work hours, including overnight shifts, will be required
