Job Description
The Director of Supply Chain establishes and implements supply chain strategic initiatives, processes and policies that support the strategic objectives of the organization. Responsible for monitoring, measuring and tracking performance of these initiatives to ensure results positively impact organizational strategic goals. Directs the day-to-day purchasing, contracting, inventory management and supply chain distribution functions to ensure operations meet and positively impact established strategic supply chain goals. Prepares and presents an operational analysis of the supply chain to senior leadership. Reviews supply and service contracts working closely with legal counsel to negotiate acceptable terms. Directs and manages supply cost reduction activities, GPO and local contract compliancy and supply standardization and utilization management initiatives. Actively utilizes process improvement and lean management techniques to establish policies, guidelines and work methods that maximize efficiency, minimize expenditures and ensure high standards of quality.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in business administration, accounting or related field is required. Master’s Degree preferred.
Licensure/ AHRMM, ISM or NAPM certification is preferred.
Certification:
Experience: 5-10 years’ experience in supply chain, with at least 5 years in a management role, preferably within a healthcare environment (ambulatory or acute). Experience developing and preparing departmental budgets is required. Project management experience is strongly preferred.
Skills: Must possess excellent verbal and written communications skills. Proven track record of successful negotiating skills is required. Must be proficient using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint and MMIS programs. Must be able to effectively and efficiently extract pertinent data from various sources and prepare detailed analysis. Ability to prepare and deliver executive presentations is required. Must be customer oriented and possess excellent organizational, time management and problem solving skills. Employs a “coaching” approach to supervision and associate development. Ability to apply lean concepts and practice continuous process improvement is required.
