Job Description
Position Summary:
The Testing Center Assistant & Proctor reports to the Associate Director of the Center for Student Success (CSS) and plays an important role in supporting the administration of testing services. This position assists with the day-to-day operation of the Testing Center by proctoring exams, coordinating testing logistics, and helping to ensure a secure, organized, and student-centered testing environment.
Major Duties & Responsibilities:
- Proctor examinations for students on an as-needed basis.
- Assist with scheduling exams and coordinating testing appointments.
- Support the recruitment, scheduling, and communication of additional proctors as needed.
- Maintain the organization and daily operation of the Testing Center, including testing materials and supplies.
- Follow established testing protocols to ensure exam integrity and a positive testing experience for students.
- Complete certification through the National College Testing Association (NCTA) Certified Test Center Professional program (or other approved certification) as requested.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of student records and testing information in accordance with institutional policies and applicable regulations.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook and basic Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and maintain professionalism.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
- Familiarity with FERPA and HIPAA regulations is preferred.
Education and Experience:
- Associate degree preferred.
- One year of clerical, administrative support, customer service, or related experience preferred.
- Experience in an educational or testing environment is a plus but not required.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Additional Information:
This position is based in Albany, NY. The duties and responsibilities of this particular role require the need for consistent, in-person collaboration and/or interaction with our community, requiring all work to be performed on-site. This is a part-time, temporary, as-needed position with hours that vary based on testing demand and the academic calendar. Additional details pertaining to this position will be discussed during the interview process.
