Job Description
How will you fight for an AIDS-free generation?
The Program Assistant is responsible for the Program implementation, processes and activities in supporting the delivery of the Program work including planning, budgeting and other activities. Under the supervision of the Program manager, He/she will provide support to Program in the following fields:
- Program Implementation
- Liaison with operation team
- Administrative Support

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Program Implementation Support
- Provide technical assistance to ViiV supported districts in effective implementation of the district approach model to close PMTCT including ANC uptake and pediatric gaps in their specific districts, including district microplanning of activities and follow-up for implementation;
- Support districts health teams to design, implement and monitor quality improvement projects (QIPs) aimed at improving HIV service delivery performance, including pediatric and PMTCT testing, and ART retention;
- Oversee capacity building of the district teams in mentoring and coaching sites within the districts on offering quality PMTCT and EID services including HIV testing services; partners testing and immediate linkage to ART of those testing positives;
- Support the districts for effective use of EID mapping ensuring samples from the facilities are directed to functional platforms and results are tracked for documentation; monthly line lists of HEI eligibles for EID are available for tracking and timely diagnosis;
- In collaboration with the districts, plan and organize joint quarterly supervision to health facilities;
- Support districts for implementation of Finding Every Child (FeCh) approach with effective coordination of community descents, involvement of all health areas, facility-led community testing, to improve case identification in children and adolescents;
- Oversee effective implementation of triple elimination of HIV, syphilis and HBV among PBFW and their partners; cohort monitoring implementation and transition to pALD to all eligible children in all facilities;
- Ensure availability of project tools (registers, patient files, SOPs & job aids) at district and facilities level and use
Liaison with the operations team:
- Work with the Finance team to ensure timely submission of budget requests and availability of funds for project activities, tracking expenditures and monitoring management of program field advances;
- Support the program team in the tracking of field activity advance funds with the health districts;
- Work with procurement team to ensure timely transfer of communication credit to required stakeholders to facilitate project implementation;
Administrative Support to the Program
- Provide technical and administrative support to the program team in the preparation of various documents, such as monthly workplans, budgets, reports and proposals on program implementation arrangements;
- Provide administrative support for national, regional, or district level meetings and workshops;
- Maintain a physical and electronic database of workshop participants participants lists, minutes of meetings, and activity reports;
- Organize all project-related correspondence/documents and electronically received information for up-to-date filing and archiving in the SharePoint. Maintain a physical archive box with all hard copies of project documents.
Qualifications
To be successful, you will have:
- Degree in nursing or midwifery with at least three (05) years of experience in HIV-related programs.
- Registration with the Order of Nurses is compulsory.
- Masters in public health is added advantage
- Knowledge of information technology; monitoring and evaluation is required
- Fluency in French is an essential requirement, and a working knowledge of English is an asset
- Good writing and communication skills.
