We are currently seeking a Shop Helper to add to our growing team.
Position Summary & Objective
The Shop Helper supports multiple departments within the manufacturing operation, including fabrication, electrical, brazing, quality, and warehouse. This role assists with material handling, basic production tasks, and general shop support to ensure efficient workflow and on-time completion of custom HVAC units.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist various departments including fabrication, electrical assembly, brazing, quality control, and warehouse operations.
- Support leads and supervisors with daily production needs and task completion.
- Follow instructions, diagrams, blueprints, and work orders to complete assigned tasks.
- Move, stage, and organize materials, parts, and tools throughout the facility.
- Assist with loading, unloading, and transporting products and components.
- Prepare materials and work areas for production processes.
- Use basic hand tools such as hammers, wrenches, cutters, clamps, and pliers.
- Assist with basic fabrication and assembly tasks as directed.
- Support brazing and electrical teams with preparation and minor assistance tasks.
- Assist with testing, charging, and basic inspection of units under supervision.
- Maintain clean and organized work areas, including removal of scrap and debris.
- Ensure tools and equipment are properly stored and maintained.
Qualifications & Skills
- 0–2 years of experience in manufacturing, construction, or related field preferred.
- Ability to follow instructions, diagrams, and basic blueprints.
- Strong hand-eye coordination, manual dexterity, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Good physical stamina and ability to perform repetitive tasks.
- Willingness to learn and support multiple departments.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
- Work performed in a manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery, noise, and industrial materials.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, twist, and lift for extended periods.
- Frequent lifting and moving of materials up to 50 pounds.
- Exposure to dust, fumes, chemicals, oils, and airborne particles such as fiberglass, metal shavings, and sawdust.
- Must wear required PPE, including safety glasses, gloves, protective footwear, and additional gear as required (hearing or respiratory protection, flame-resistant clothing).
- May require overtime, weekend, or shift work based on production needs.
